' Ben Amos '

Cost us two goals today by either not talking to the defence or being indecisive! Games like these at home we can't afford to lose! On to boxing day now lets hope its a better result and get to January so Neil can bring his players in :ayatollah:

Thought he should have come out for their second and stayed on his line.

Thought he should have stayed on his line for their third and came flying out.

Thought he came out too late for their fourth.

Having said thought he should not have been so badly exposed for any of those goals.

He and the defence had a horrible day. We need Bamba back ASAP. But the amount of mistakes Amos has made in the last few days is unforgivable.

One million percent agree the only times Barnsley threatened us was when WE had a corner

Time for Ben Wilson to have a go yes he is young but only way to learn, the coaches like him big time so give him a go it is clear Amos hasn't got it and has cost us points tonight he got away with it against Wolves but I have to say Connelly was piss poor tonight and normally is when playing right back

Re: ' Ben Amos '

Sat Dec 17, 2016 6:31 pm

Send him back to league one where he belongs asap.

I hope Bamba feels even worse about his behaviour in that game now

Not good enough im afraid. He has had a fair crack at it now, the position most certainly needs a change of personnel

Connelly did have a bad day today but he is not a right back and don't understand why Bennett was dropped and pelts was on the left

But who.

If I recall right but Wilson did not install a lot of confidence in us all. Beginning to regret we sold Moore.

Agree 100%. Amos was not the reason we lost today.

Moore was also quite error prone when covering for Marshall last season.

Moore has found his right level in League 1.

Which is where Amos belongs too.

Its a good question and if I'm honest I dont know the answer, hopefully its being worked on behind the scenes. My feeling would be though that he is here for the season and will keep his position.

Amos culpable for three of the goals today in my opinion for poor decision making. It's not good enough. New keeper in January just as important as some new strikers.

I defended him the other day but today I completely lost faith with him. I know he earns a fair wedge at City but I bet the Barnsley keeper doesn't earn half as much yet was superb today stopping goal chance after goal chance.

I agree the defence is also to blame as well as the defensive midfielders for exposing Amos on the counter attack but he has to do better than he did today.

He was not the sole reason we lost but he does take a huge slice of the blame.

hope to god, father christmas brings us a goalkeeper, what we got are sunday players for the local pub,

Re: ' Ben Amos '

Shot stopper like Marshall but no positional sense or authority.

Not good enough.

Re: ' Ben Amos '

Sat Dec 17, 2016 10:37 pm

Positional sense was lacking today! whilst the defence didn't help I'm not sure that it was reason for his display?

Shit, I have only just seen the highlights. 3 out of the 4 a championship keeper should do better.

Re: ' Ben Amos '

Sat Dec 17, 2016 11:45 pm

He was awful, looked scared too death. Ben Wilson is not the answer ,got his chance earlier in the season and was even worse.

Warnock could bring in the most deadly attacking force in the league but if your keeper and defence cant do the simple basics then any team is fucked

Re: ' Ben Amos '

Amos is absolutely shocking, send him back to league 1 and bring in a much better goalkeeper in January!

Re: ' Ben Amos '

Sun Dec 18, 2016 10:51 am

He was piss poor yes but quite frankly i can't see Wilson doing any better, but saying that we do actually have some experience in the goalkeeping ranks with Brian Murphy surely he Wouldn't of made those mistakes that Amos did yesterday.

I say give him a try, its either that or stick with Amos because quite frankly Wilson just isn't ready to be our no 1 he made just as many mistakes I think in the few games he played.

Strikers are the top of the list in Jan but I think a goalkeeper will be close second.

Surely after this week Amos' confidence must be shot? We have to try SOMETHING as the status quo just isn't working.

Re: ' Ben Amos '

Warnock when asked about Amos in the post match interview, said " I don't want to talk about him" I may have paraphrased him but that was the gist .
I think he will be dropped, along with 3 others .

I can see where your coming from mate and the argument would be he can't do any worse but I wouldn't exactly call Murphy experienced to be honest, certainly not at this level, in terms of appearances at Championship level Amos actually has more experience than him.

He's only played 180 odd games in a 16 year career most of those in the Irish League. There's got to be a reason for that.

I was shocked when we signed him tbh, still am to a certain degree, I'v no idea what he brings to the table. He's doesn't even make the bench over Wilson. People argued at the time that Clubs need 4 keepers on the books these days, I accept that and he makes 4 with O'Reilly from the DVP squad.

Amos and Wilson both had their chances and neither were confident between the sticks, Amos showed that with Barnsley's third yesterday. I think we had Whitts and someone else with their player and Amos decides to rush out to go have chat with them, Whitts tackles the guy ball falls straight to them, a tap in, if he stays on his line yes their player still has a shooting chance but thats more difficult than just tapping into an empty net.

Like I said I think we should stick Murphy in, he's got decent experience where hes been at man city, pompey, QPR and even the Jacks. At least his confidence wouldn't be shot like the other two, he'd be up for showing Warnock that he wants to play first team football every week.

You make a good point mate didn't actually notice that how little appearances hes made, but I can't take another afternoon of relying on Amos I've just lost all faith in the guy, im just saying play Murphy till we get someone in Jan cos Amos just has no belief in himself from what I saw yesterday.

Re: ' Ben Amos '

Trouble is, there's nobody tidy to come in if Amos is left out (as he should be). Wilson wasn't very good and Murphy is a Division 2 keeper, at best.
Selling Marshall and Moore maniacal.
