Sky sources understand the former England U21s manager Stuart Pearce will apply for the role again, as the FA begins its search for a replacement for Gareth Southgate.
He was in charge of the side from 2007 until 2013, when the FA decided not to renew his contract after England’s youngsters lost all three matches in the Euros.
