The strange thing about this season is how close the league is . If any team around us puts a run of 4/5 decent results together they would be right in the mix for the play offs .
No matter how bad our results have been nobody apart from the top 2 seem good enough to be considered certs for the play offs

Totally agree Thomas, At the moment only Newcastle and Brighton stand out.

He had to work hard for it and there is lots of work still to do but how many managers could have dragged us up to where we are from where we were? :ayatollah:

sorry but it really isnt that simple.
the club holding down 6th at the moment have the same points at this stage as last year and year before .
play off qualification those years was 74 and 78 points and we have 23 so far. to reach even 74 { another 51pts} over the remaining 25 games would require the same form over that period that Brighton and Newcastle have been in so far.
it can happen but its not a decent run of 4 or 5 games its 24 or 25 games.
im happy if we stay up

I'd like to oppose your thinking but alas I can't.

Lets just stay up, smash this league wide open and win it next year, do a six pointer on Swansea, help get them a 2nd consecutive relegation and see Warnock get his record!! :ayatollah: :bluebird: :thumbright: :happy1:

I can't help but feel ecstatic after tonight's win. It meant so much more than just 3 points to us and in a way, reminded me of the Preston game at home a few years ago, where we had a streak of losses and draws for about 6/7 games and had Preston at home in the pouring down rain, the relief and buzz I had when Burke had hit it into the top corner from about 20 yards out to give us the 3 points was like no other feeling. Tonight was much like that to me. It was a three points we expected to get, but felt so precious when we got it, much like that night when we beat Preston :ayatollah:
Onwards and upwards :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Well done lads-I'm pleased for you.

The table looks a lot better when you're not in the bottom 3 doesn't it?

Thanks. It certainly does! We had to work hard for that tonight.

I've seen both Cardiff & Wolves at Villa in recent weeks. There was very little between any of the sides, in fact, Wolves should have beaten us. I don't believe that there will be many games that teams don't have to work hard for in this league. Anyone is capable of beating anyone on the day.

With Warnock in charge, you'd always fancy his team to get out of this. Burton look to have leveled out a bit which will be good for you (and us as we have them on Boxing day). They are going to have to dig deep now. Wigan did very well at Villa on Saturday. They didn't threaten but they defended very well and were unlucky. Its as tight at that end as it is at the top (or at least the teams fighting for play off places)

So what your saying is another win is two and we're back in the mix?

Such a unique league the championship, another win over Barnsley and we will be knocking on mid table. Be happy with that after the start we had. Interesting to hear a Villa fans thoughts on this league? I see you are taking lots away, some new grounds making it a bit more interesting for the real fans you have in this modern age??? :ayatollah:

Villa have been abysmal in the 3 games since we played you, haven't looked like scoring in any of them. While I think he is the right man for where we are, there is a lot of work still to be done with the side. I dread to think what the total value of our strike force is yet we struggle to score goals.

This league has been an absolute revelation for me. To be honest, I had,t paid too much attention to it prior to this season. Now I can't get enough of it. There are some great teams and great managers in the division and the competition is probably the best anywhere. Any team can beat any other team on the day, even Newcastle have lost around a quarter of their games. There is no such thing as an easy fixture.

Villa fans have traditionally traveled in numbers, even last season. This season, the away support has really surprised me though. Maybe its because of the "new ground" syndrome? but tickets to games sell out usually within hours of going on sale.

The one criticism I have about the league is the ticket prices. In the Prem, there is an agreement not to go over £30 a ticket. I appreciate the financial aspect but Sheffield Wednesday charged £48 for away fans (& I believe that they have to charge their own fans the same, somewhere in the ground) Norwich charged £40 last night for a night game, live on Sky. Villa subsidised a fiver but £35 a ticket is still wrong IMO, especially as Villa are at QPR on Sunday. A lot of fans are being priced out of going to games which is a shame, especially when teams rely on gate revenue. There will be some Villa fans who go to both of these games who will have lost a day off work yesterday and spend a minimum of £200 on the 2 games how can a young kid afford that? Or someone on low income?

I bet you've got the most expensive strike force outside Premier League.
You will def make play offs, but top 2,Hmmmm?

I was convinced we were going to be relegated at half time.

Not often have I seen such a turn around.

Amazing and brilliant effort by the whole 2nd half X1.
