Brexit EU property owndership

Mon Dec 12, 2016 7:23 am

I was with someone who owns quite a few properties in Europe on the weekend... I know there are a few on here.

I was interested on his reflections. Firstly it seems that brexit will not affect property ownership or taxation at all. That's the good news. It may effect British people wanting to access health services and private insurance will probably be required. Still not such a bad thing. However, where he was concerned is that some EU countries may implement a 5 year rule on those people living in their country. So people may only be able to remain permanently, or semi-permanently, if they have lived there for 5 years. He was under the impression that they were waiting to see what the Brexit plan does for their own citizens living and working in the UK. I guess if we start exiting EU nationals or making them apply for visas to work if they are recent migrants then they will do the same. Of course.

But at least it seems that property ownership and procurement won't be affected. No one wants to upset Elton eh? not even the French!
