REGARDS TO CLUB STEWARDING

Sun Dec 11, 2016 1:21 pm

Bit of a strange post but watching the Derby vs forest game & Derby score and you have fans jumping the barriers and some getting on the pitch but just being let back in the stands. This was the same when Villa scored vs us at their place.

This may or may not be relevant to anything but I have no doubt if our fans done this they'd be mobbed and ejected. Our club seems to be very anti our fans.

Is there any reason as to why this is?

A lot of the blame put on Wayne Nash.

My feeling are that stewards at some grounds are trainned alot better than perhaps at others.

Do the club say anything to fans complaints regarding this? Derby scored again and the stewards are even celebrating with the fans

This game is a local derby so perhaps that could be why but I agree our stewarding is abysmal!

I reckon there's probably something in that re: trained better etc. At other Clubs the fans are probably treated as a 'customers' to a certain point so get a bit of respect, whereas down here it seem's that your treated as a threat.

Down here though to be fair, it clearly just depends on what part of the ground your in, in the corner of the Canton/Ninian Stand there are a couple of Stewards round there a gingerish bald fella and an old fella who are as good as gold, always have a chat with you no problem with them at all. On the other hand I sat in the Ninian Stand by the Away fans once and never again, there was a fella on his phone waving to his Mother and Brother who were in the Family Stand, Stewards came bounding over like he was about to detonate a suicide bomb ffs.

I had a chat with our police liaison officer at villa, he agreed that our stewards would have ejected most of the villa fans if they were working the game however villa didn't feel the actions of their home fans were likely to start a riot so go lenient and let them enjoy themselves.

Unfortunately that's how it is, while I think they have relaxed previous attitudes it would be carnage if we did that. I have to say Bristol city last season was the match I nearly walked out on city, for how long I don't know but had a guts full as to the way we were treated by stewards in a local derby. Something had to change and it did slowly from that day, personally think it was the power of social media and this forum which was highlighted last week.

And your correct Ian, it is down to him.

And yes our stewards need to be trained to be helpful and polite to our fans as well as doing their job :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:
