' SOL BAMBA IS DISTRAUGHT AS WARNOCK REVEALS '

Sol Bamba distraught by his own actions as Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock reveals exactly what happened

Bamba now faces a three game ban and will face an internal disciplinary proceeding with Warnock

10/12/16

Neil Warnock has said Sol Bamba has been left 'distraught' by his actions after he was sent off amid extraordinary scenes at Portman Road.

Bamba reacted to a tackle by Jonathan Douglas before confronting a number of players, officials and Warnock himself.

Bamba now faces a three game ban and will face an internal disciplinary proceeding with Warnock himself in the coming days.

However, while heavily criticising his player's behaviour, he hit out at the referee's inconsistency and that Douglas escaped punishment. He also felt the referee could have brought a quick halt to the fracas by stopping play earlier.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy conceded that the challenge by Douglas on Bamba was a clear foul.

Warnock said: “He's lost his rag, it's just an aggressive attitude and you can't condone it. If I could have got him on the floor I would have done.

“When you look at the DVD Douglas is very clever, he leaves his studs on the ankle. The referee's not seen it. An experienced ref blows up there because Bamba's down and it stops all the hassle. Instead he plays on, tries to give us an advantage that we didn't want and it all erupts.

“Now we've got a man sent off, I'm without one of my best players for three games and it's like Dunkirk for the last 20 minutes.

“It doesn't condone Sol's Bamba's behaviour, it's a red card.

“I'm seeing him tomorrow. I didn't really want to have a nice friendly chat with him tonight because I don't think it takes away what was a good performance.”

Warnock says there are unlikely to be any serious long-term implications for Bamba's Cardiff career and laughed off his own grapple with the centre-back.

He said: “I couldn't get on his back! I couldn't get high enough else I'd have jumped on his back! If I could have got him on the floor I would have done! Douglas is smirking when he comes out today, when you see it in slow motion, he leaves his studs in, he knows what he's doing.

“Apart from that incident I've nothing but praise for him [Bamba], he's been absolutely immaculate, as good as anyone when he plays like he has been. It's not something that I've seen as part of his make up and you can understand it a little bit more when you can see the challenge in slow motion, but it doesn't condone what he's done after. No doubt he'll regret it.”

So let's get behind him like the Fans we are supposed to be. People phoning Rob Phillips saying he should be kicked out of the club just makes us look embarrassing which it is :o

I find our fans clueless, they've clearly not played the game very often.
It was a clear rush of blood due to a very very bad tackle.
It's good to see some fight in him personally.

Let us not forget this is the guy who turned his back on international comp (African cup of nations) to help us fight relegation!!!!

Fk me blown right out of water. Warnock was holding him back to stop him doing something more stupid. At the end of the day if warnock is ok with it we should be.

The guy shows passion - we have had so many players in the past that don't care

We got a point - losing Bamba is a blow but get behind him

Sol is forgotten by me let's move on

Well done NW, football is full of emotions, Bamba was out of order and now regrets his actions, apologise and move on :bluescarf:

All fans are clueless. But I agree with most of what you say. The amount of Bamba threads on here prove how much of an overreaction it is getting. Move on. Have people forgotten his debut winner vs Bristol City?
