Peter Whittingham has been a named etched in Nottingham Forest's transfer memories ever since Mark Arthur suggested that he and Darren Pratley were on the verge of penning contracts at the City Ground, in 2010.
But in what is sure to be a truly bitter blow for Reds fans, news has emerged that the midfielder is about to extend his stay at Cardiff City by at least another year.
Having spent almost 10 years in South Wales, the 32-year-old will see his current Bluebirds deal come to an end in the summer and boss Neil Warnock is keen to see Whittingham stay at the club.
Warnock said: "Financially it might be a little bit different but I think as you get older you have to accept things like that.
