Zorya fans try to attack Manchester fans but are stopped by stewards

Irish Manchester United fans were pelted with bricks and bottles and had fireworks blasted at them by Ukrainian soccer thugs tonight.
The yobs were waiting for the fans when they arrived at the Chonomorets Stadium in Odessa ahead of United’s Europa League clash with Zorya Luhansk.
One Irish supporter claimed that fans were herded towards the ground only to be met with a hail of missiles.
He said: “They were waiting for us at the stadium and we walked into hail of missiles. All hell broke loose. They fired bricks and bottles at us and fired fireworks.
“They came out of nowhere and all of a sudden we were under attack. I got hit him myself but luckily I only got a few cuts.”
But the fan, who did not want to be identified, said he saw other United supporters receiving more serious injuries.
He added: “I saw people who were in front of me being carried away and one was knocked out. The missiles were just dropping out of the sky and coming down on top of us.”
The fans had been warned to expect trouble but were shocked at the level of violence that awaited them at the stadium.
To make the situation worse, the stadium is within a short walking distance from the city centre and is located within a wooded park where the lighting is very poo

I know it's childish but the last sentence made me laugh![]()

Joking aside it will be interesting to see what punishment they get for this.
Imagine if it was the other way around!

Odessa had one main bar called Mick O neills. Most of the 1000 that went were drinking in there before the match or in the restaurant bars nearbye. Everyone who went had an E mail and text informing us that they concerned for safety due to woodland next door to the stadium. Feyenoord and Fenerbache fans had been attacked from these woods before.
Buses would be layed on in order to take us to and from the match.
The problem was that these buses were leaving at 5pm so no one wanted to be stuck in the stadium 2 and a half hours before the match so everyone agreed to walk down together at 7pm.
I have been going to matches for over 30 years and ive never seen police and army like this. There were over a 1000 there, most with full riot gear on. Then at 6pm they told us that the buses had waited for us and we should leave ASAP.
One soldier who spoke very good English told me that there was a group of locals waiting for us and we should get on the bus.
We all agreed and we were were escorted to the buses. I ended to talking to 3 old bill from GMP.
They too knew it was going to kick off. The last fans to leave the irish bar were told that there were no more buses, so they would have to be escorted there. They walked the 20 mins to the stadium and then a group of locals were waiting with bottles, bricks and all kind of missiles. The riot police did nothing. They could have stopped the escort and cleared to locals first but they just marched them straight into an ambush. We later found out that they were not just footy fans but there were local youths who had came from everywhere to have a pop.
We got in the stadium and we thought that was it. During the game the atmosphere began become hostile. There were a group of young scruffy looking youths who were giving it the big one. They were not fans of Zorya but of Odessa. It was clear that they wanted our banners after they tried to rip one off the security fence. WE managed to rescue it and then security came. It was during the 2nd half that a group of Ukrainians charged at the banners on the other side of the away end. United fans tried to take them down but they were drapped over the fance making it easy for the Home fans to rip down. They were not interested in coming into our end but they just wanted as many banners as they could rob.
I tell you this it was scary stuff. I dont scare easily but i couldnt wait to get back to our hotel after the match.
Lovely city is Odessa, but these fans/ locals just hate everything about the west
Good luck for the rest of the season.
