' Tommy O' Sullivan and a Number of other Players '

Tommy O'Sullivan

News coming out of the club with regards to Tommy.

More Players
http://www.annisabraham.co.uk/2016/12/0 ... n-january/ :bluebird:

Talks were held with regards to his future and despite excellent displays in the u23s and regular apperances for the Wales u21 team he has been told that he can move on in january.

Personally I feel he was never given a chance at the club and could have excelled if given one.

I have a feeling that he will stamp his authority at the new club that he signs for and the city will regret letting him go.

Good Luck Tommy. <○> <○>

Its true, City spoke a number of the DVP/Under 23 players this week including another player David Tutonda.

This has nothing to do with Warnock, but City have to trim down their whole squad in Jan,for Warnock to bring in players,so Warnock has to do the dirty work and tell them all.

I rate Tommy O'Sullivan, a bit of a shock really.

Malky Mackay described Tommy as ‘super-talented’ and said: “I have no doubt he will become a first team regular for this club.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also tipped O’Sullivan to break through, while Russell Slade has noted the talent he has and is keen to see him go out on loan and gain more first team experience.

I have watched several Development Squad games this season and he has not stood out as being worthy of a first team place in any of them, bar maybe one. A shame, because a number of people had said beforehand how good he was and so I was expecting him to excel at that level. The truth was though that he simply didn't. David Tutonda had a couple of good spells in games but often failed to produce any end product after promising runs.

For whatever reason ,none of the Development Squad youngsters ( and some of them are not even that young anymore) have pushed themselves forward as first team candidates. Maybe it is now time to move them on and create room for the more promising under18 group to move up to that level.

The players mentioned are just not up to championship standard

Nathan Blake's nephew Theo Wharton is another one. No longer a youngster ( I think he is 23 now) and hasn't really progressed as a player for several years.

What you got to think is are they any better than the players in the match day squad, if not then they need to be moved on at the age they are now at ,if they aren't getting a game at 23 what's the point in hanging on to them, the club are better off trying to develop 16 year olds

i have been told that every 2nd and 3rd year pro have been released, thats the 20 and 21 year olds not involved in the first team, the developement squad will be a mix of first team players and under 18s, also an under 18 lad was given a pro deal

Although its disappointing, I can see the logic if they arn't good enough. Saves money but also opens the door for younger talent to step up to the dvp earlier. It may pay off in the long run.

Coincidentally Harris has just been given a pro contract and there are a few in the U18s who are only 15/16 who are really good apparently.
Spence is tipped as being the best since Ramsey to come through

these days, if a player at championship level, isn't pushing for the first team at 18/19 the odds of them making it as a pro are extremely low, i can't remember anyone in recent years breaking through to the first team in the early twentys, so agree that it makes sense to move them on and free up money

james waite from the under 18s has been training with the first team a bit lately, i think he will get a deal to take him through to 21

I thought O'Sullivan would make it into the first team so I'm disappointed he has not.

To me over the last decade it seems the academy/development squad are just not value for money.

not sure how much it costs to run an acadamy but in recent years the sales of ramsey matthews gunter and blake (off the top of my head) have brought in over 8 million, and although ledley left on a free he gave us a few years of first team football and john played in the premier league, so i wouldnt say it hasnt been value for money.

I believe it is around 1.5/2m a year. Some might say 1m. Since moving into CSS only Matthews has made it I believe nd he did not go for much.

Tommys biggest mistake was turning down a loan to leyton orient in January. if he went there and impressed then i think he may have had a bigger future with us

We need to get rid of 6/7 Senior players on big money who are not performing so that Warnock can bring in his own three players, remember he has already brought in 4,two who have been excellent, the other two?

It's a win win we get his wage off our books and if he does well we bring him back or sell him

The number of appearances he's made under Warnock, he doesn't either.
