A number of Championship clubs are weighing up a move for Boreham Wood striker Morgan Ferrier when the transfer window reopens in January, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Ferrier has impressed at Boreham Wood so far this season after joining the club in the summer.

The powerful and pacy forward has scored eight goals in 17 appearances in all competitions this season, including one in the FA Cup draw with Notts County.

Ferrier's displays for National League side Boreham Wood have not gone unnoticed higher up the football pyramid with scouts from the Football League keeping tabs on his progress at Meadow Park.

Cardiff are understood to be among several Championship clubs to have sent scouts to watch Ferrier in action and they are considering a move for the former Arsenal and Crystal Palace youngster to bolster their attacking options in the New Year.

Ferrier is out of contract at the end of the season after initially only signing a one-year deal upon his arrival at Boreham Wood and his suitors are aware they might be able to land for a bargain fee due to his contract situation.

Boreham Wood claim they have no plans to lose any of their squad, including Ferrier, but the non-league club would find it hard to turn down a sizeable offer for the striker in January rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.

I thought the same, we need a striker that has scored a few at championship level. The lad seems a good prospect though, if we were to get an experienced striker in and were also looking at the lower divisions for another I wouldn't mind that lad Omar Bogle from Grimsby.

IF theres any truth in this then he will come with a tiny fee and will be looked at as one for the development squad. Warnock will be looking at proven players higher up the pyramid or his former players.

i am all for giving young lower league players a go but not at this point.
i wouldnt mind bogle either but as a back up player.
law of averages we get a goalscorring striker sooner or later in fact we are due to win the jackpot.
since DJ left along with chops and jay we have signed umpteen strikers off the top of my head at least 20 .big reps, internationals, young prospects ,all sorts yet only 2 Miller 10 and KJ 13 have hit 10 lge goals in a season.

We need to stop taking big gambles in the situation we're in and splash out on the best striker we can afford! I'm all for buying players who might be good for the future etc. But that's the opposite to what we need right now

Does anyone know whether warnock is using the same scouts that the club had in place before he arrived or whether he is using "tried and trusted" scouts that he has used in the past ?
