Cardiff City fans were left feeling Blue in more ways than one during their defeat at Aston Villa park at the weekend.

As Neil Warnock's men lost 3-1 to Villa, there was more flare in the away end than there was flair on the pitch when it came to the Bluebirds.

West Midlands Police detained a Cardiff fan for setting off a flare during the match at Villa Park on Saturday.


And they revealed that the supporter in question also had to receive medical attention after blistering his hand.

Tweeting from the Aston Villa WM Police account, they confirmed: "One Pyro set off in stand. One male detained seeking medical attention! Blistering. Caughtbluehanded utv."

The police later provided this update: "The dangers of Pyro in football, now treated and now being dealt with by Prisoner Handlers. Is it worth it?"

Two different scenarios the game you refer to was a marine distress flare which is shot into the air hence it shooting across the stadium and hitting the poor gentleman. The one at Villa was a hand held smoke flare which he has held wrong.

im sure the two fellas in the Rumania game had no idea what could go wrong or infact the different sort of flares, how sure are you that the fans taking flares in these days are any more clued up?

lets be fair, all the "kids" on the partition at Villa didn't look like they had any brain cells between them - plebs! The same mob fighting amongst themselves.

Ryan their weren't any fighting amongst each other so don't know what you witnessed
