Cardiff City have been linked with a loan move for young Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom.

Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom is set to join a Championship club on loan in January and Cardiff are among three clubs interested, according to The Mirror.

Neil Warnock is keen to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window, and a striker will be an area he will address as a matter of urgency.

The Bluebirds’ boss says there are three key areas he wants to strengthen but won’t reveal the remaining two. He also says he will have to ‘wheel and deal’ to get the cash he wants so Akpom may fit the bill.

The Arsenal striker is making good progress on his return from injury but Arsene Wenger wants him to gain more experience in the Championship, according to The Mirror.

The 21-year-old hasn’t completed his rehab programme just yet but if he comes through unscathed, then he will be set to join a Championship club in January.

Cardiff City, Fulham and Brentford are all reportedly keen to snap up the striker on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Akpom has only made four league appearances for Arsenal after graduating from the Gunners’ academy in 2013.

He has made one appearance for the senior side this season, an EFL Cup win over his most recent loan club Nottingham Forest, in January.

The England under-21 international has completed four loan spells in recent years and one of them was with Brentford, one of the teams interested in securing his signature in January.

The Bluebirds will be keen to strengthen their front-line in January but if they want Chuba Akpom on loan, then they will have to battle off two London clubs first.

Akpom, 21, is making good progress as he closes in on a return after suffering a back injury in September.

Arsene Wenger wants Akpom to continue his education back in the Championship after last season’s impressive loan spell with Hull.

And there will be no short of takers provided Akpom suffers no reaction in his rehab programme.

Cardiff City are being linked with a January move for Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom.

The 21-year-old is reported to be heading out in loan after Christmas, with the Bluebirds among a number of clubs said to be interested in his services.

According to the Mirror , Cardiff face competition from the likes of Fulham and Brentford, who had Akpom on loan two years ago.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has clearly stated his need for reinforcements when the transfer window opens on January 1, and a striker is his main priority.

The club's constant financial battle tor remain within Financial Fair Play limits means loan moves are likely to be very appealing if the right targets can be found.

Akpom has been limited to one first-team appearance this season, featuring in the 4-0 EFL Cup win over Nottingham Forest in Septemver.

Sometimes moving a London kid outside London is the thing the manager wants to do.

He was on loan at Hull last year scored 4 or 5 in about 35 games. We really need someone who's gonna get 10+ goals

I know nothing about this player but everyone is assuming in January we will get some great players who will turn this season around and keep us up.

yeah 100% agree, he doesnt have enough goals in him for my liking, id rather the fella from bristol rovers we was linked with the other day, just cos someone is at a bigger club doesnt make him the right kind of target

All easy to point his record out at Hull but he could easily get 10-15 goals for us.. never know unless he puts on the shirt an plays what he can do.
