Rickie Lambert v Aston Villa Yesterday

Sunday 27th November 2016

For me Rickie Lambert produced his best all round display yesterday since joining Cardiff City, he also delivered the best one-liner we've heard yet this season. When you speak to Neil Warnock every week, that's quite the feat.

Ricky Lambert, of course, had come close to scoring a precious equaliser. Junior Hoilett again wriggled free of the Villa defence and chipped a delightful ball across the six-yard-box.

Lambert slid across but couldn't quite get there.

After the game, Warnock asked him, "how close were you that?"

"It came about 20 years too late, boss."

Lambert, some say is virtually at the end of his career and may not have the speed that he use to have, but what Cardiff have gained is his experience and composure.
Having spent the shooting warm-up drill constantly putting the ball in the bottom right-hand corner, it was telling that he was able to do it first time when the chance came. Practice takes perfect.

Since joining City,Lambert is getting better and sharper.

Personally I would like to see us bring another striker in and bring back Rhys Healey in January and give Healey a chance :thumbright: :bluebird:

I don't know how long Junior Hoilett will stay but he is doing a grand job upfront and I would persist with him. County fans are raving about Healey and it sounds as though he is doing a similar job for them as JH is for us. I would bring him back and use him as an impact sub from the bench when something different is needed.

Because hes doing a good job in League two? Let's be honest here there's a big, big difference. we need game changers.
