Warnock - 'I don't see a lot changing until January'

Neil Warnock was again unable to find fault with his Cardiff City players despite a disappointing result at Villa Park.

Cardiff were the better team for large parts of the game but were unable to cut out the defensive errors that have undermined them in recent times.

The veteran boss warned fans that until he adds to the squad there will be no dramatic improvements in the Bluebirds' form.

He said: "The goals were just silly little mistakes, errors which you shouldn't make at this level. A one-two letting your man go, trying to pinch the ball when you shouldn't, it was disappointing.

"Today we were unlucky, I can't really fault them, they've given everything, we probably just didn't have that bit of quality that Villa have got. But when you pay £14 million quid you expect a bit more don't you?

"I can't see a lot changing til January if I'm honest. We've got work with what we've got and they are giving everything. There's no bad apples in there. I didn't think we would [pull away from the relegation zone ], we need a few reinforcements.

"Look at Hoilett and Bamba, I don't know where we'd be without them."

He's absolutely right, we have to soldier on till January. We may not have the quality of most other teams in the Championship but we are stronger, maybe largely psychologically, as a unit since he has taken over. We do have some players like Gunnarsson, Bamba and maybe Hoilett along with 1 or 2 others who can form the basis of a good side going forward, but we do need a new injection of quality soon.

I hope (and maybe believe) Tan will recognise the improvement Warnock has produced since he took over and will reward him by releasing some money for new talent to be brought to the club in the New Year.
