Aston Villa fans lay into Neil Warnock over Jack Grealish tunnel ambush

Birmingham Mail

Sunday 27th November 2016

Neil Warnock is disappointed with Jack Grealish for winning a penalty against his side.

So much so that he confronted Grealish in the tunnel after the game.

The truth is, it is classic Warnock, a manager that has been winding up fans, managers and players for decades.

The Villa fans have had plenty to say after reading about the incident and Warnock’s comments after the match.

Here’s a few of your comments...

Martin Harper: Warnock needs to give it a rest. If grealish saying 3 or 4 times how many more then he quite within his rights to say to the ref why no card.

Anyway enough of warnock. Well done villa another win 3 points off play offs and now joint 10th. Let's keep this up.

Bruce's Claret and Blue army

Christine Harris: So its not only the players out for jack today its the manager as well . Every time jack got the ball they tried to boot him theres only so much a player can put up with he's class and they knew it i think the ref and the linesman were abysmal today shocking

James Allcock: So worried about jacks moaning he forgot to sort out his teams discipline. I wanted warrnock as our gaffer aswel think the villa made the right choice. Inbrucewetrust

Graham Young : Warnocks team were the same as he always is...... crude, we won you didnt get over it

Carl Andrews: should be managing a Sunday team

Michael Dearn: The way Warnock sets all of his teams up should make him the last person to criticise Jack. They came to spoil the game with constant fouling and time wasting until they were behind. Suck it up old fella.

Andy Booker: Shut up Warnock. Your team played dirty and offered nothing but long throw-in set pieces.

thb the real problam was the ref he was fooled everytime by their acting as well letting villa get away with what they like but i thought we played really well but as we all know we don't have a cutting edge where it matters up front

I can accept losing even though I think we played really well. What I hate is the attitude of certain players like Grealish. Clearly the guy has skill but his attitude stinks just like several of the Huddersfield players last week (No 9) in particular. I don't expect everything to go our way but the officials yesterday were bloody awful. Why was the foul on Pilkington early on when he was set to break away down the right wing not punished with a yellow card. Why was Hutton not booked for a clear dive. Why was Grealish not booked for holding up an imaginary card (its automatic yellow now!). I would also like another look at the situation where Hoillet was floored. Just a few examples of a very home biased ref. Still continue that way and I am sure we will move away from the bottom 3

Warnock was the type of manager I hated when he was outside the tent pissing in because he's so good at it.A warm welcome will be waiting for that little spunk trumpet when we play them down here.

Grealish is everything I hate about some of the modern day footballers....overpaid, diving, nancy boy tw*t!!!!

I'm surprised that an "old school manager" like Steve Bruce puts up with his nonsense....if he was playing against him 25 years ago he would have booted the diving prick into the stand in the first 5 minutes

Send that Grealish to a war lets see if he will dive like mad then.

You know what I mean rolling on the floor pretending to be injured take him to a war zone and he gets his leg blown off then he would have good f*cking case to roll around on the floor then.

He doesn't dive. He had lumps kicked out of him all game by your number 17. I would have been asking the ref how many times until he gets carded?

It's funny how fans see things differently. I think that was the worse ref that we've had all season. Your players got away with a lot in my eyes & that is how Warnock plays, close to the edge.

I also think that you played well. I would say that you will be comfortable mid-table come May. Hoillet & Lambert are dangerous and the big black lump at the back won't lose much in the air. You attacked well but were up against a defence that have grown in confidence recently.

Look mate. Nobody likes a diver, least of all me. I watch Grealish every week, if I thought he took dives, I would say so. We had a player (Ashley Young) a few years back who was brilliant for us but would always dive in the penalty area-Nobody I know liked or approved of that. Do you think that Steve Bruce would encourage it of Grealish?

On Saturday, was he booked for diving? The ref was usually 10 yards away or less, you were in a corner of the ground, a long way off. The first penalty shout, he was past the last defender, why would he go down?

Grealish is probably the most fouled player in the division, he is quicker than most players at this level and this often leads to him being caught.

If you want the truth, I thought he was targeted on Saturday and your number 17 pushed the limits. He should have been booked first half. Your whole side were pushing, tugging, wrapping arms around players all game and the ref let it all go. The foul that saw the sending off should have been a straight red. Grealish mugged him and the players frustration got the better of him, it was a kick that was high and nowhere near where the ball would have ended had Grealish not sold him a dummy.

I've no complaints about this, you are fighting relegation currently and you expect this from a Warnock side. I wish our team had shown the same level of fight last season. But to come out with claims that a player was diving, after you set out to hack at him all day long, is taking the piss.

Yeah ok if you say so....have a look at the penalty the cheating git was throwing himself to the ground before our centre half actually tripped him...and I think that Morrison had a word in his ear and was telling him he was a cheating little prick as soon as the penalty was given.

By the way our no 17 name is Aaron Gunnerson surprised you didn't recognise him ...he's the captain of Iceland..you know the absolute no hopers who apparantly knocked your country out of the Euros.

Looks like we are going to have to disagree on this one...Good luck for The rest of the season

Didn't see anything in the game that makes me believes Villa will be promoted, with the crop of players they have they should be doing a Newcastle but I just don't see it happening.

Wait till they come down here, we'l batter them across the park and beat them :bluescarf:
