MY VIEW CARDIFF CITY PLAYED WELL TODAY/CONTROLLED THE GAME A

My View/Opinion

FOR ME CARDIFF CITY PLAYED WELL TODAY/ CONTROLLED THE GAME AT TIMES/BUT BAD DEFENCIVE MISTAKES & EVEN WORSE A PLAYER SENT OFF DID NOT HELP.

Then ex Cardiff City player Rudy Gestede sealed it for Villa with a penalty.

CITY STARTED BOTH HALFS WELL,ATTACKING FOR THE FIRST 5-10 MINS & EVEN HAVING GOOD PERIODS DURING BOTH HALFS.

CARDIFF CITY ARE NOW BACK IN THE BOTTOM THREE

First-half City played really well, but Warnock will be fuming with his defence, as City made careless mistakes.

For me Aron Gunnarsson,Rickie Lambert and Junior Hoilett stood out :bluebird:

ASTON VILLA 3 CARDIFF CITY 1
Crowd 31,484
Away support 2,450 City fans :thumb right:

Villa Albert Adomah 24' Jonathan Kodjia 39
City Lambert 28

Cardiff were unchanged from their last game.

Cardiff City team: Amos, Bennett, Bamba, Morrison, Peltier, Whittingham, Ralls, Gunnarsson, Pilkington, Hoilett, Lambert. :bluebird: :bluebird:

Subs| Wilson, Richardson, Noone, Harris, O'Keefe, Connolly & Gounongbe.

For Cardiff fans this was one of the biggest away games of the season and with both teams having big name managers in Neil Warnock and Steve Bruce it was sure to be one hell of a game.
Both teams had not had the best of starts this season, but today was the chance for one of them to go in to December on a high, hopefully it was going to be Cardiff City.

City started really well and for the first five minutes really went for it, as the match went on Villa took control and scored easily in the 25th min 1-0 Villa

Fair play to City, City came straight back in to it and Rickie Lambert scores 1-1 :bluebird: :bluebird:

Villa then took control again and bang in the 39th min ,Kodjia headed Villa into the lead 2-1

City played well first half, but defencive error cost us the two goals.

HALF TIME STATS: Villa 2-1 Cardiff
Possession: 68%-32%
Shots: 5-3
Shots on target: 2-1

VILLA 2 CITY 1

City started the second-half like they did the first by attacking Villa.

Villa then took control, but City stood strong.

Lee Peltier in the 71st min was booked for a late foul.

In the 74th min Noone and Gounongbe replaced Lambert and Pilkington

In the 75th min Villa put on ex City player Rudy Gestede

In the 80th What a save!,Ben Amos, prevented Agbonlahor from scoring in a one on one.

83rd min Lee Peltier sent off

90th min Rudy Gestede scored penaly 3-1

FULL-TIME ASTON VILLA 3 CARDIFF CITY 1

My man of the match Aron Gunnarsson :thumbright: :thumbright:

Dominated 2nd half but never tested their keeper.

What concerns me with it all is we have the likes of Freddy on the bench. That being we just don't have the quality up front. In fact since the departure of Campbell we have we have had no quality up front.

Thats our problem Ian.

Not good on the bench, we need a proven striker ASAP

Grim day really with results all going against us. Blackburn beating Newscastle. Yes the team needs a striker but they also need to stop leaking goals like a sieve as well. Sounds like the second goal was poor today. Warnock is getting the best out of the team but they are not good enough at the moment unless reinforcements are found in Jan they will go down. I fully expect to get beat again next week against Brighton unfortunately.

Ryan, I do as well, as without good strikers Warnock can't perform miracles,I can only blame the club for that,as we have known this for years.

I am confident he will keep us in this division for next season. I agree, our squad is not good enough, but when I said the same thing before the season started I was criticised for being a pessimist, and was slated for suggesting we would only finish somewhere between 12th and 15th. I think most fans would take that position right now, although I guess there are still some deluded fans on here who think we will be in the play offs. Personally, I still think we can finish somewhere close to my original prediction.

Shouldn't be too down about it. Villa have a very good manager and a very good squad whereas we have a very good manager with pebbles and stones to work with. Not to mention, Villa are a team on form and to at least say we played well against them and had a go is better than saying we sat back all game and let them walk all over us - which would've happened if Trollope/Slade/Solskjaer were still here..
