Big names missing

It’s fair to say, with the absence of Chamakh, Immers and McCormack, there’s a few big names missing from the teamsheets.

But with Gestede, Kodjia and Agbonlahor in the Villa matchday 18, there are plenty of threats for Cardiff to deal with.

Neil Warnock tends not to tinker even after a defeat and so it’s no surprise to see him go with an unchanged XI.

Lex Immers again misses out while Chamakh is also out of the squad entirely. He doesn’t look likely to earn a contract extension at the moment.

It looks very much like a 4-2-3-1 from Villa today, with Ashley Westwood and Mile Jedinak sitting in front of the back four and Grealish, Ayew and Albert Adomah comprising an entertaining attacking three in behind the mercurial Kodjia. Plenty of danger there.

Still not convinced by Ralls keeping his place in the team, really hasn't done enough for me so far this season

Cardiff City have not beaten Aston Villa since 1974. Anticipation.
