Warnock: "I was disappointed I didn't get the chance at Aston Villa FC, Bruce is the right man now even if he should have been England manager'

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock looks ahead to this weekend's clash with Aston Villa this morning as the Bluebirds look to build some Championship momentum.

We'll get an injury update from the boss as well as his thoughts on the opposition.

Steve Bruce has led something of a revival in the midlands and they are unbeaten under his management.

Neil Warnock: "I think with Steve and myself I think you get what you see. I was disappointed I did not get a chance with Villa in the summer if I’m honest, because i thought it would have been ideal to sort everything out. And that is why i am not surprised at all Steve has gone in and done really well."

"I am not saying we are similar types, but I think we have the same philosophies regarding management. We are not bothered about being in the Chamionship. He does not think he is going to be a Premier League manager, he just gets on with whatever he does 100 per cent."

"Personally I thought he should have been England manager at the time. I just thought with his experience playing wise and what he had done and his age and his enthusiasm. I thought it was an ideal position for him in the summer.
I know Gareth has done a good job. I am surprised they have not spoken to Steve again."

Neil Warnock:

"They wanted bigger names I think, they took the lad and that is how it goes. I must admit I did smile at a few of the signings and the money they spent.
But I think Steve is the right one now. He knows its a massive club he will be looking forward to it. We have had some right battles over the year, he knows he is in for a tough game on Saturday.
They have got a lot of quality players there but I think we have a few as well."

Neil Warnock's tribute to Cardiff fans

"I’ve found that people are very positive about the future, I try and keep the feet on the floor because I know we’ve got quite a way to go yet. They’ve given their all in every game, it hasn’t been enough but know we know we can be competitive. The supporters earn their money hard and as long as the lads try I think they’re a forgiving bunch, like I had at Sheff Utd."

Sickness bug in camp

Neil Warnock: "Jazz Richards is still out, we’ve got a bit of a sickness bug with a couple but I’m optimistic with them. You just get that at this time of year."

"We need a performance, they’re flying since Steve went there, as good as anyone in the league at the moment. We’ve done well away from home, so we should be able to give them a good game."

'20 goals no matter how many goals he scores'

It shows the strength of the squad [that he can’t get in], he’ll still score 20 goals, no matter how games he plays. I’m sure Steve’s aware of that, the way he’s brought Agbonlahor back in is a credit to Steve. Steve wouldn’t have spent that much [if he’d gone in the summer] I don’t think, but Kodjia looks worth it, we look on with envy.

Annis knowing Warnock his targets are already aware he wants them. If he wants 5 and gets 4 he will be happy. This Division is wide open with the exception of Newcastle
