A group of Sevilla fans have attacked Juventus supporters leaving one man wounded and in a pool of blood at a local bar.

The far-left group of ultras ambushed the bar 'El Papelon' in the central zone of the city on Monday evening.

The incident is thought to have lasted between four and five minutes and involved 30-40 ultras collectively raiding the bar.

Three fans have been hurt, according to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport: one Italian man, a Belgian local resident and a Spaniard, who is still in hospital, but is in a stable condition.

The Juventus fan is thought to have been hit with a bottle to his thigh and chest and was pictured on the ground in a pool of blood.

A female witness, known as Maria, has been quoted in Tuttosport and claims the Sevilla fans stormed into the bar late on Monday night, with their faces covered, before attacking those present.

"It must have been 11:30-12:00, suddenly a group of people all dressed in black and hooded, with their faces covered, stormed in shouting, 'Sevilla, Sevilla.'"

An unnamed male witness, also quoted in Tuttosport, claimed: "It was not a fight, it was true aggression. It was organised by a group who attacked people who were being quiet [in the bar]."

Sevilla have since released a statement to acknowledge the perpetrators were Sevilla supporters, condemning the violence and intending to cooperate with the police.

"The club has given the police all the information at its disposal about the facts," read the official club statement.

"The Seville wants to demonstrate its strong condemnation for the deplorable events that were seen on Monday night that featured some of the club's supporters.

"The club wishes to underline that these supporters do not represent the values and respect of the club."

The statement concluded by encouraging all fans to condemn the behaviour of the minority of Sevilla supporters.

Juventus fan stabbed in clash with Sevilla supporters

Daily Mail

23rd November 2016

Spanish authorities say a man was stabbed during an altercation between supporters ahead of Tuesday's Champions League match between Sevilla and Juventus.

Seville police say the Italian Juve fan was seriously injured during the confrontation at the Taberna El Papelon pub near the city centre and rushed to hospital.

Officials added that the individual is in stable condition and his injuries are not life threatening.

At least two other people sustained minor injuries in the violence that occurred on Monday night.

Authorities say the fighting began after a group of Sevilla fans attacked the Juventus supporters at the bar in the southern Spanish city.

Police were forced to intervene to end the altercation. No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath.

More than 800 security personnel are expected to be present at Tuesday's important Group H clash.
