Aston Villa enquired about Iceland Captain and Cardiff City player Aron Gunnarsson this Summer,but never put a high enough offer in for him.

Cardiff City at the time wanted £2million for Gunnarsson,it was rumoured that there had been offers of around £800,000 for Gunnarsson and that the Cardiff City board held out believing they would get £2million.

Gunnarsson had been one of the stars of the Euros (2016) and City had hoped to cash in on him.
Previous managers Slade and Trollope for some reason or other never seemed to give Gunnarsson a proper run of games and it felt they were pushing out.

New manager Neil Warnock has come in and has given Gunnarsson his chance,which he has taken and stood out as one of Cardiff City's best and most consistent players under Warnock.

Warnock has described Aron Gunnarsson as "a managers Dream player" and "one of the Best players in Championship".
After every game Neil Warnock has singled out Gunnarsson and given him nothing but praise and told this to the media.

It is strongly rumoured in the Midlands that this coming January a number of clubs will be coming in for Gunnarsson and Aston Villa being one of them.

Villa manager Steve Bruce,see's Gunnarsson as his type of player.

Gunnarsson is out of contract in June 2018 and City had not offered him a new contract before Warnock had arrived,be interesting now?

No, he has been excellent since Warnock come in, in the summer I said yes because he had gone off the boil for us but was being played out of position.

I would have thought he'd be on many clubs shopping list. On fire playing for NW in the right position. Love his attitude and a key player we need to keep.

If he was going to go it would have been in the summer while his stock was high he's in the team and a key player under warnock he won't be sold

Is like to think that warnock isn't one to fold. If club sold his best player he'd walk

Now he's being played in his rightful position he has become a valuable asset. His best form comes in this position with two center mid ball players in front of him.

But I stand by what I say in he can't play an attacking role or a two man midfield.

We could do with him for the battle, were still in danger. However, I think if we got close to 3m for him then okeefe could come in and replace him without having to fork out any money and business wise it would make sense.

Well he is now worth at least 3M and going up game by game

For me, every player at the moment has his price including Gunnar.

Bearing in mind what we need, especially up front, we are going to have to generate some money from somewhere and to do that we will need to sell players who have value.

I would take £2m for Gunnar but we would need it paid in full.

I can't see Warnock, Tan or the fans wanting to sell him and the price is only right if you can find someone to replace him, which is not as easy as it sounds. With the performances he has put in for Iceland we could easily get £3/4m if European teams were interested. He is way too good for Villa who are not exactly riding high at the moment. If Gunnars was to move I reckon he would want to go to a better team than Villa.

I would sell if the price was 5m

I would not want him to anywhere but, in fairness, Villa are one of the biggest clubs on the country. Hopefully he will take a new deal and be part of City's future.

Always rated Gunnarsson and I hope he sticks with us until the end of his career.
