it makes me laugh when you all say "tickets are cheap" we should have more fans. a lot of fans have turned away after the treatment by tan. the club cant just offer cheap tickets and expect old wounds to be fixed.

More people would rather go to watch the rugby that's they choice I don't. But when bitter people keep taking snipes and writing nasty threads that people who enjoy the occasional game of rugby are some how an inferior group of people. But then cry when no one turns up. That's face it it's the nastiness and bigoted opinions of some of our fans that keep people away.

Dissapointing attendance. Not sure what it's going to take to bring back the stay away fans?? Sad to see to be honest.

As has been stated and proven on many occasions the only thing that will bring back the crowds is a succesfull team.

This is our hormal attendance, I don't know how many more times it can be said and proven. There are no "stay away" fans, complete myth. We had our highests crowds under the "red machine", obviously wasnt that much of an issue at the time

Our crowds have gone back to normal because we have been relegated and sit towards the bottom of the league. Easy. Im amazed people genuinelly thought the Prem glory hunters would turn into die hards

Cardiffs crowds are still at a record high level.iremember watching us play Middlesbrough at this level in the 80s at ninian park the attendance 2500.

Spot on from where we were to 15k crowds is great. People can talk about us being a big club but we aren't and never will be without success. Fact is we are bottom of division 2 (old speak) 15k is a good crowd.

The jacks are the same, already they are talking about how many of their "loyal" support will go back to watching the rugby should they get relegated.

^^^This. Granted, we were getting 27k+ in the PL - but that include sell-out away ends every week as well as people who who've probably attende a handful of City games before I their lives. We had a few on our bus every week who've not been seen since.

You could actually turn it on its head and say that our core support has increased dramatically over the last decade - but that wouldn't suit some agendas. Hmmmmmm

What a great game and so refreshing to see a city team playing for the shirt, couldn't ask any more. All I ask. The crowd thread is beyond boring. :sleepy2: :sleepy2:

Spot on. If anything, 15,000 plus for a City team one place outside the relegation zone is possibly better than average. I think the Warnock factor has probably helped. Been saying for ages there are no missing fans. This is the sort of gate we always had in the old Div 2, if we are having a proper push for promotion you can add anywhere between 5000 and 10000 onto this figure. As plenty on here have already said, only success will increase attendances. Unless we are up towards the top of the league, we can expect between 12000 and 17000 depending on the opposition.

perhaps some perspective please.
andy Campbell was at the game today,
average attendences when he was with us below:

2002 – 12,523

47 years I have been watching the city and its always been the same, success and everyone will return.
they will also drop the city quite quickly when times get tough unfortunately.
also ala per cup finals, ive been going to the city for 40 years, never missed a game and I cant get a ticket will come out :)

look at the 80s and 90s below
1983 – 7,036
1984 – 7,067
1985 – 4,363
1986 – 3,061
1987 – 2,826

Good post.
Perhaps this will put an end to boring 'attendance' threads and people predicting over 20,000 for a game against mediocre opposition.
I don't even believe there were as many as the 16,000 that were stated there yesterday.

2009 - 18,000 last season at Ninian Park
2010 - 20,717
2011 - 23,194
2012 - 22,100
2013 - 22,999

Mr positive will say it's an improvement on last season and heading right direction, if you look at this seasons games most are around 15,900. As said in earlier posts and I agree that our hardcore base has actually grown, and that's what your seeing at the games now. A promotion challenging Warnock side will top 20,000 and higher for big matches. I been watching city since 87 and as keenor said always been same, have posted before we have a huge following who dip in and out and nothing wrong with that its a choice they make.

Hull would be my comparison although they struggled last season for crowds with a promotion side.

Onwards and upwards.

yes the egg was on but it's not that it is on, it's on at the same time.

Add into that xmas shopping has started, most people with a brain in or around Cardiff that Cardiff is a traffic nightmare when only egg is on, add in shopping and football and you can bet many would say not today thank you.

I bet if we had the game on Friday night or today at midday you would see a bigger crowd given the great prices through s/t holders. And I bet Huddersfield would have still brought their 700.

Wake up city, egg and football don't mix and there are no excuses about police costs anymore like you came out with in the past!
