Reports suggest the former Bluebirds' boss will leave the club imminently

Former Cardiff City manager Russell Slade depart Charlton Athletic after just five months in charge.

According to reports from BBC London, Slade will leave after winning just four league games this season, with the Addicks on a run of two wins in their last 10 matches.

They sit 15th in League One in a campaign that has so far been overshadowed by discontent with the club's owners.

Fans have protested against owner Roland Duchatelet's running of the club, most notably when they threw plastic pigs onto the pitch at The Valley in a join protest with Coventry City supporters.

Slade, who was replaced by Paul Trollope at Cardiff City in the summer despite shortly accepting a new job as 'Head of Football', was tipped to succeed at Charlton after a successful stint in League One with Leyton Orient.

I'm sure he'll move to something else soon. We've been through some controversial times in recent years but nothing compared to what is happening at Charlton.

A decent bloke I think, who deserves better than Charlton. He may not have achieved enough for many on here, but he left us in a better state than when he arrived (not that that was difficult), and not many managers can say that.

Trollope certainly can't say that and neither could Solksjaer.

I agree he was better than alot gave him credit for. Yes football was boring on times but he certainly saves us alot on wages and stability was the key after Oles mess. And that note you can't really fault the guy

He was on a hiding to nothing at Charlton with their clueless Belgian owner and the incompetent bint he put in charge. He deserves better and I hope that the Addicks fans are successful in eventually getting a decent owner when the current clowns have gone.

I agree I am not a big Slade fan, but the owners at Charlton are just diabolical and completely clueless on how to run a football club!!!

If slade held out he could have got a job at champ level. Many chairmen would have looked at what he done at Cardiff very favourably.

Would they fook!

Charlton fell for this supposed "good job" he done here and found him out.

He was given plenty of money and reverted to type. Safety first underdog bollocks.

The blokes a football fraudster.

Port Vale will face a Charlton side under different management when they travel to The Valley for Saturday's League One fixture. The Addicks tonight parted company with boss Russell Slade after just 16 league games in charge. His exit follows Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Swindon.
In a statement released this evening, Charlton said: "The club has reluctantly made this decision after results this season, which have left the team occupying 15th place. The club wants to give itself the best possible opportunity of achieving its number one priority - winning promotion to the Championship at the earliest opportunity.

"The club would like to thank Russell for his tireless work during his time at The Valley, particularly the processes and disciplines he has instilled at the training ground, and wishes him well for the future."

Vale head to The Valley only a month after the teams drew 1-1 at Vale Park in the league.Vale have won their last three games, beating Stevenage 1-0 at home in the FA Cup first round, edging out Doncaster on penalties at the Keepmoat Stadium in the Checkatrade Trophy and then coming from behind to win 2-1 at home to Fleetwood in the league on Saturday.

In the state we were in, many other managers would have seen us relegated.

He stabilised the club and left us in a good position, will be remembered here for keeping this club stable.

He did his job and we weren't relegated. Somehow i doubt Charlton fans would have been happy with that outcome in league 1

Promotion football is about winning not not losing.
