' Time to get rid of local Cardiff City player? '

Many on here know I have a different opinion and believe Declan John could of been a good winger?

Neil Warnock has been told he has to get rid of players in January before he can bring in new players,so would Declan John be one of them?

I believe his contract runs out next June? ?
What would City get £100,000?
I believe he's on £5,000 a week

Would you get rid of Declan John?

TIME TO OFFLOAD DECLAN JOHN

Football League World

Declan John broke onto the scene in their maiden Premier League season, and much was made of the youngster and the potential he had.

However, he has failed to live up to that potential, and he has spent time on loan at Barnsley and Chesterfield over the past two years. Since coming back, he doesn’t seem to have vastly improved, so he could struggle to get in the starting eleven.

Warnock brought in Kieran Richardson to fill the left-back void, so Warnock clearly doesn’t have much faith in John or else he wouldn’t have signed Richardson.

I am like you mate, I believe in Declan, I think he is more than capable at this level, he held his own when he played for us in the Premiership and was a shining light in that drab 0-0 at the Brittania against Stoke, would be a shame to see him leave as I would love us to have some local lads in the squad but it does look like things are not going to work out for him here so might be best all round if he moves on.

Totally agree with you and I so want local lads to make it for Cardiff City :thumbright: :thumbright:

Don't ask for a fee, offering him out for free.

Not on big wages had a great start to the season too , if anyone did well for Trollop it was JOhn, I hope we offload others on bigger wages rather than give away I believe a good young player in Declan john

I rather him go on loan again but then the boy himself may want to go now

If we do sell him make sure we get a decent percentage of any future transfer

Very true and something we have been guilty of not doing in the past.

I think Declan needs to move on for his own good. He just doesn't seem to get the luck needed here and he constantly sees his route to the first team blocked. Needs to probably step down a division and earn regular first team experience.

Honestly would not be too disheartened if we got rid, just because he is Welsh and came through the youth system doesnt mean you warrant to stay at this club.

Thrown in the deep end in the Prem and had one or two good performances but people forget he was at cost for a few goals because defensively he is a liability and got caught out a few times. Going forward he is not the best either, never attacks players and always runs backwards when he gets so far in their half, he needs to watch Bennett if he is going to continue at full back.

Many says he played as a winger in the DVP or academy games? If he wants to be a winger he should be telling Warnock that his strongest position is wing, he can't just wait and expect a manager to guess he is a winger if he been used as a fullback under previous managers.

If he wants to be a winger then he should be saying, no sympathy for him being used as a fullback if he is just happy to go along with it.

I would get rid of him, nothing special or exciting.

Can't believe so many people on here keep defending him and say to try out in other positions when he is clearly not good enough.

The only manages who seem to have fancied him as a player have been the two worst managers we have had so what does that tell you!!

He has also had two loan spells and no one has made an offer for him.

Consider he is meant to be an great attacking player he has score next to no goals in his career.

Should have moved on a couple of seasons ago and if he is that hot a prospect put a 25% sell on clause on any potential transfer

If we do then learn from past mistakes and get a sell on clause ffs.

He just isnt good enough unfortunately, i love seeing local boys getting in the team but it has to be cos hes good enough and not cos hes local, and for declan hes backed by fans for being local as hes never really produced in a city shirt, time to offload him
