Friday's first World Cup meeting between England and Scotland was marred by Armistice Day clashes inside and outside Wembley.

Two men were arrested and several were left injured at Trafalgar Square, and at least one fan was ejected from the match itself, as supporters ignored pleas to show restraint out of respect to the fallen before and during the historic game.

Trouble flared in the England end as the hosts cruised to a 3-0 win, leaving one spectator covered in blood, while another appeared to have his eyes gouged.

That followed ugly scenes at Trafalgar Square, including the sight of blood pouring from one man’s leg onto a Saltire flag as paramedics attended a concussion. At least one supporter was taken by ambulance from the scene.

Blue flare smoke hung in the air, and the sound of breaking glass could be heard, as police pulled away a group of England fans attempting to confront a handful of Scotland supporters, more than 14,000 of whom had been expected to travel to London.

Fans mounted Nelson’s Column, while one of the lion sculptures had a traffic cone placed on its head, mirroring the Duke of Wellington statue in Glasgow.

Public toilets had to be closed after equipment was kicked and tiles pulled off, and the square was littered with broken glass and alcohol-soaked cardboard.

Empty bottles lined the pool rims of the two fountains, which had been switched off after they were filled with fairy liquid when the two sides last played three years ago.

Amid what was a considerably increased police presence, one man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and another on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

Was there all day and never saw any signs of trouble. The two minute silence at Trafalgar Square was well observed and the pubs were busy and happy. The atmosphere was good, fans mingled and drunk together.

I was in the Scotland end about 1 block in from the England fans. Didn't see any trouble walking to Wembley and no trouble outside before or after. Only incident I saw was a Scotland fan kicking a beachball on the pitch.

Other than that everything was fine by me

Report yesterday from the Daily Record(Scotland) was that the Jockos were throwing bottles and can at England fans. I was surprised as they normally try and hide "violence" by the Scotland fans, which does happen especially the Aberdeen and Hibs fans as they search for Rangers fans in Glasgow.

Personally I hope they got skelped. Dont really like the English but I hate the tartan trannies more :-)

England fans fight among themselves during Scotland game leaving one supporter bloodied and bruised

11 NOV 2016

BY RECORD REPORTER

THE Three Lions crushed Scotland 3-0 but the fact their team won didn't stop some supporters from engaging in a barney in the stands.

AN England fan was left bloodied and bruised after battling with a fellow supporter in the stands during the 3-0 win over Scotland.

It is not known what sparked the ugly incident but one man was left with a nasty eye injury and was bleeding heavily.

However, that didn't stop him cheering on his side after battling with a fan wearing a white jacket.

Other fans appeared to intervene with scuffles breaking out before police eventually restored order.

The injured fan managed to stay to the end to cheer on his team before being escorted away by paramedics.

Earlier in the day there were two arrests when the Tartan Army gathered in their thousands in Trafalgar Square.

One fan was held on suspicion of common assault and the other on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
