Remember the fallen is way more important than the threat of loosing 3 football points. Disgraceful

The poignant scenes as Wales football team are joined by 200 members of the military to honour the war dead

The preparations for Saturday's World Cup qualifying clash were put on hold at 11am

Friday 11th November 2016

The Wales football team paid their Remembrance Day respects in a touching tribute ahead of World Cup training at Cardiff City Stadium.

Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and captain Ashley Williams were among the members of Chris Coleman's squad who stood in unison as the nation fell silent in memory of the fallen.

The preparations for Saturday's World Cup qualifying clash were put on hold at 11am as the team and staff were joined by 200 military personnel in observing the Armistice Day two-minute tribute.

The spectacular poppy gesture Wales will make with your help against Serbia after FIFA shirt ban

Wales' captain Ashley Williams lays a wreath before a two minute's silence to remember the soldiers who died in the World War One
Wales players and staff join with military representatives to observe a 2 minute silence to mark Armistice Day

Chief executive Jonathan Ford, manager Coleman and skipper Williams laid wreaths on the centre-circle before the Last Post was played.

Family members of serving military and representatives of the Flanders Welsh War Memorial – the site the Wales side paid a solemn visit to in 2015 – were also present for the classy tribute.

Wales will pay further tributes tomorrow evening when they face Serbia despite being banned from wearing poppies on their shirts by Fifa.

Spot on. An absolute disgrace. Respect to England & Scotland who are standing up to the unnecessary threat being made by FIFA. Those who died fighting for our country is far more important that picking up a fine or points deduction. I would be amazed if either England or Scotland were deducted points.

England and Scotland will both defy the ban meaning no teams in that game will complain whereas if Wales wear the poppy, Serbia could complain meaning FIFA would have to take action

There's other ways of respect and the players been doing it on social media and we are doing a thing in the crowd of the poppy and wearing black armbands?

Truthfully and I said this in another thread.. I will get slated even though people know its the harsh truth.. football supporters were the ones who brought it into a political statement first.

Disgusted by the the stance the Welsh FA have taken.

Our fallen are much more important than 3 points.

Does this mean we shall no longer see any reference to "Say No to Racism" as surely that would fall into the FIFA rules on political/cultural/religious etc comments

They should hang their heads in shame - every one of them

It's more to do with a points deduction, we will be holding up the cards in the stand to make a poppy & the team held a two minutes silence with the troops at the stadium today during a training session, I wouldn't say what we have done is disgraceful, we have just shown our respect in a different way to get around the restrictions posed upon us by FIFA

Spot on, people are making out we are not showing any respect at all.

I don't see what the big fuss is about.

It's a game of football FFS. Players and fans will all do their own things to remember the fallen before and after the game.

Let's keep football about football.

I even think club kits should not have a poppy on them

No poppies for Wales, black armbands.

Fifa has rejected a request from Wales to wear poppies on their shirts in Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Serbia.

Wales will wear black armbands instead, while fans at Cardiff City Stadium will form a poppy mosaic before kick-off.

Football's world governing body Fifa prohibits any political, religious or commercial messages on shirts.

But England and Scotland will defy Fifa's ban on players wearing poppies in their match on Friday.

Good question Annis, as if as a club we don't, then we will be one of the only if not the only PL or Championship team in the whole of the UK that doesn't. It will be very interesting. A total discrace by the club if we don't :bluebird:

The Bantams(Bradford City) to remember fallen heroes this Saturday :thumbright: :thumbright:

Sky Bet League One and League Two clubs will honour those that lost their lives at war over the weekend of the 12-13 November, whilst the 24 Sky Bet Championship teams will pay their respects the following weekend on Saturday 19 November to mark the Centenary of the Battle of the Somme which ended 100 years earlier on 18 November 1916.

This Saturday, there will be a minute’s silence and an EFL wreath will be laid on the pitch prior to kick-off of City's game with Rochdale at the Northern Commercials...

There would be no way FIFA would dock points from us or any other nation unless there was any Racist/facist undertone .

We should of chanced it and let Mr Bale pay the fine with his megabucks from the Spanish royal family !

The thing is we may want to remember our fallen but many others will not.

There's uproar that us and Northern Ireland will not be wearing them. The thing is the poppy has a totally different meaning to a lot of people in Northern Ireland. See stories about James McLean refusing to wear a West Brom shirt with one on.

It has never been tradition for football clubs or international teams to wear it until the last 5 years, now if you don't wear one you're a disgrace

And all proceeds will go to the royal British legion. How is that taking the piss?
