Those difficult decisions may not yet have been made.

But if Warnock wants a new centre back to supplement Sean Morrison and Sol Bamba —who have done well under the new boss — then Matthew Connolly and Bruno Manga don't appear to be integral to his plans and could be ushered out of the door.

Others, such as Emyr Huws, Lex Immers and Anthony Pilkington could also be in line for shock departures if they can't nail down starting spots. Warnock has freely accepted he is prepared to get rid of good players if it suits his vision for the Bluebirds' squad.

Lex Immers has struggled to nail down a first team spot so far this season

For the core of first-teamers, including Lee Peltier, Aron Gunnarsson and Peter Whittingham, along with new signings Bamba and Junior Hoilett, the future seems secure. Ben Amos has performed admirably in goal but is only on a loan contract from Bolton. Warnock may identify a more experienced replacement between the posts.

But with Marouane Chamakh only contracted until January and neither Kenneth Zohore nor Frédéric Gounongbé struggling to make an impression, it could be the striking department where we witness wholesale changes.
