Football Manager 2017

Thu Nov 10, 2016 4:35 pm

Any fans of it on here?
Just got it, went city (ofcourse) and the hero that is Peter Whittingham scored the opening goal of the season away to Birmingham.... before I fell to a 2-1 defeat with two 90th minute goals (just as realistic a game as ever)

If anyone has got it (or even if you don't) what signings would you recommend?

I've sold Lex Immers and Connolly almost immediately to get 3m. That Ognogugbebue I can't sell even for free. Tried to ship Pilkington for 3m+ and that's failing. PS.... I noticed Morrison is just 25?! Didn't think he was that you.

1.6m starting budget, small room to maneuver. Wish me luck.

How's it compare to the older games? Heard it is a big revamp?

Last one I bought was fm14. Couldn't get on with it.

Good luck.

If it's the first management game you've played, you'd say it was incredible. If you've played 14/15/16 it's all just very "samey".

They have touched up a few things, it always looks slightly more refined but there has been no big revamp. Maybe the game is due one, but I still love it and buy it. It sucks me in way more than it should mind.

My girlfriend is away for the weekend and I just can't wait to eat Quavers from my belly button and guide Cardiff to another season of mid table obscurity.

Not realy into computer games but when I was a kid I was obsessed with Championship Manger the 01/02 season. It was the mutts nuts. Didn't the two company's who made it split or something? I tried one or two later but couldn't get on with them, what they like these days?

Big fan of it just about kick off on proper game. I played the beta version went city played it about 4 times with cardiff I didn't beat brum once 1st game of the season. Got a few loans in young winger from Liverpool struggled to sign any keeper or top striker tho. What formation you go for? Sign any players?

Championship Manager 01/02 is now a free game from the eidos website, and these guys over at champman0102.co.uk do an amazing job of updates every season. Football Manager is too much for me, i havent got time for all it's bells and whistles but CM0102 is like a lite version of it, much easier to consume bit by bit

Owned fm12 loved it, bought 13, and it was Soo bad the game, that it put me off pre-ordering 14' and after that I read the steam reviews from players and each game was more negative than the last so I haven't bothered buying anymore. Still play fm12.

I signed Libor Kozak on loan from Villa, scored a hat trick against Reading on his debut

Blocked the transfer window for the summer, so kept with the same team.

In Jan, sold Noone for 3m (possibly rising to 5.75m) to Burnley and Morrison to Norwich for 3.3m.

Brought in Alex Kiwomya from Chelsea for 250k rising to 500k, loaned Chuba Akpom and Rob Holding from Arsenal, plus Dave Edwards from Wolves after Immers got ruled out for the season (so I could still play 4-2-3-1 if I wanted to.

Ended up coming 2nd, QPR won the league. Akpom won player of the season after scoring 13 since January to fire me to promotion. If you were wondering (you probably aren't), my usual team was 4-5-1:
Amos; Richards, Manga, Connolly, Bennett; Huws; Ralls, Gunnarsson; Hoilett, Pilks, Akpom

New contract signed for 3 years and £25m to spend in the Summer. Praying Kasper Dolberg and Ollie Burke sign up for the revolution!

Was that the one on PC that had that ridiculously catchy theme tune that played over and over again? Earnie was a machine on that game.

I sold pilkington to Sunderland for 4.5m plus additions even though I wanted to keep him, but couldn't turn it down & raided the Madrid & Barcelona B teams with future incentives for winning the championship & stuff like that
