If he's still anything like his time with us then yes (which I doubt). How old is he now though?

I'd take him even just till January loved bothroyd

Haha sorry but no.

although I enjoyed his time here let's not let sentiment get in the way of a decision. He's 34 and spent his last 3/4 years playing in Thailand and Japan. He's not what we need.

Another 34 year old with no pace to along side chamak and Lambert? Do we really news him..

Have'nt seen him play recently so can't really say. I would be more inclined to look to our longer term future rather than quick fixes signing players at the end of their careers. If he was the difference between survival or relegation, then of course go for him. However, I think we have enough here already to keep us in this division, and I would be looking at players who can help us progress over the next few years rather than players who are just here to help out for a few months.

I agree with your views about players who can help us progress but for the immediate future we have to start getting points on the board and pulling away for the relegation places.

To that end I would much rather Bothroyd than Zohore, Gounongbe or Pilkington up front and he's the same age as Lambert and has been playing much more regularly than Lambert over the past few seasons.

I'd take him short term.

Fair enough. To be honest, I don't know much about him or how he has been performing recently. I was impressed when he played for us last time, and thought he was good at holding the ball as well as being useful in front of goal. I have no idea as to his current form, but as you say, our first priority has to be getting away from the relegation fight.

Don't need him as we have lots of strikers at the moment scoring goals

Sign him up until Xmas and see what he can do :bluescarf:

Agree with this, Dave Jones told him he would never play for us again whilst he was manager after the Blackpool Wembley final! He can shove his English cap up his arse

Would love Jay back but looking at the squad in terms of attack, it's just adding to what we already got.

Cant hurt to give a trial, but I can't see him wanting to.

Re: Updated ' Jay Bothroyd? '

Can't believe anyone is seriously entertaining this guy coming back!

Did well for a while but let us down along with certain others when it really mattered (I'd use the term "bottled it!") and when he wasn't sat on his backside watching the game go on around him, he thought he was something special after that solitary cap

Wasn't liked amongst the squad and was told by the (then) manager he would never play for City again whilst he was in charge

That last sentence says a lot and I sincerely hope Warnock is laughing at the thought! :ayatollah:

Love him to bits but i think he is well past his sell by date, so a No from me i am sad to say :ayatollah:

Worse case scenario he could train with us, trying to find a article from Warnock after we played them when we lost 2-1 the season QPR went up, he said something about Bothroyd after the game rating him highly and he signed him didn't he at QPR?

Forgot to add, Bothroyd had more of the pitch on his arse than any other player in the whole league... :digging2:
