If the people of South Wales actually supported their local club instead of putting their support and money into English clubs then we could be like Newcastle too.
Sadly I'll never see it.
It really I should phenomenal up here- a religion, every other Saturday is like International day in Cardiff.
People showing pride in their region.
I'm so jealous- and sad that the supposed proud Welsh can't do the same.

Not the same mate - when Newcastle were rumoured to be changing the ground name, there was uproar.
We changed our name, dishonouring him who made the supreme sacrifice, for the sake of a few pence....where was the protest.
Our ground should be called Ninian Park, and should'nt have been changed, leastaways without the consent of the supporters.
Whoever made the decision to change it, is greasy.

Totally agree mate ... Great to see all the pubs and clubs rammed just like Cardiff on an international day....They don't have to compete with the rugby though but saying that if the club got there act together e.g. Better marketing , better half time entertainment , finding unique ways to create a better atmosphere And I don't mean having a drum leader ... tbh it's not rocket science but the club is run by people who don't have great expertise and nouse to come up with the ideas to get this club on a par or close to a par with Newcastle .

Great post, but you got this from here

But I totally agree with Tim,Ive agreed or liked all the Welsh based football fans swanning off to watch the English Prem clubs when they've got Cardiff City,Merthyr and Newport County on there doorsteps.

Yes I agree and we are a bigger city than Newcastle and have a huge catchment area,1.5 million. But people these days only want to follow successful teams so it's a double edged sword?

They don't put much money or support in though. Most buy a replica shirt and wear it while they watch the game on tv.

Lmao. Copy and pasted from an other site and claimed as his own.
How very very sad.

The people of the Cardiff just dont support their City's team in numbers for whatever reason. If you took out the support that comes from the outside areas then it would be even worse.
Not point scoring or trying to be a tw*t or contreversial just saying the fact. With a population of 346,000 in the City and County Cardiff the Club should be able to pull 20,000 out of that a week before you even start on the outside areas but they dont, why?

I. Believe it's because rugby is a way bigger draw. The cost of a ticket for international matches and the day out over the time period of the season, would in my opinion leave little money for most to spend at city.

What attendances would Newcastle get if they had our history?.

We just don't watch live sport in South Wales out of habit. IMO opinion we have lost two generations.
I am 49 so grew up through the hooligan decades and was shocked to hear (in the 80's) my nan say she would go watch the city every week until all the trouble started in the early 70's. City, Cwenty and the Jacks would probably be lucky to get 15K in the mid 80's, so why should watching live professional football be in our DNA ? I think we have 12~15k real fans now, thats not bad considering where have come from.
We will follow a winning team, but bin them when its not sexy.
The WRU have done a great job of making the Rugby day out exactly that a piss up, but the regions and the clubs attendances are down season on season and they don't give a fcuk.

Many of the local Rugby Clubs are thriving mind whilst a lot of Football Clubs are strugling at grass roots level.
I think the FAW could do a lot more tbh aswell as the clubs.

I reckon 15,000, they've never spent a year in Div 4,never mind 9 years,like us.

Newcastle are not an historically lower league team who's been through a rebrand. We don't compare to them, we are closer to Boro who are also bigger then us. Huddesfield are our level.
