" CARDIFF CITY TODAY GAVE NEWCASTLE A BIT OF A FRIGHT/ BUT "

But it was far to late and over all Newcastle deserved their victory.

The first 45mins saw Cardiff City relieved to go in at only 2-0 down,as Newcastle just attacked and controlled the game.

Cardiff gave Newcastle a bit of a fright in the second-half.
Even though the second-half was virtually all one way traffic by Newcastle at least Lambert and Noone created a few chances and showed a vast improvement and when Whittingham finally came on and who had been dropped, scored, but Newcastle could of won by more :ayatollah:

NEWCASTLE UNITED 2 CARDIFF CITY 1

Amos, Bennett, Peliter, Bamba, Morrison, Richardson, Ralls, Noone, Hoilett, Lambert.
subs Wilson, Manga. O’Keefe, Whittingham, Harris, Gounongbe, Chamakh.

Away support 840 incl 50 comps :bluebird:

City travelled the long journey to Newcastle with a following of about 800 fans and were facing a Newcastle side that had won their last 7 games and were top scorers in the Championship with 32 goals.
Whilst City had won 2,drawn 1 and lost 1 in new manager Neil WarNocks 4 games in charge, this was certainly going to be City's toughest game of the season.

But a sloppy start and City were 1-0 down with in 3mins as Atsu sloted in at close range

Newcastle then continually battered Cardiff's defence, except for the odd break away from Cardiff, which never troubled the Newcastle's keeper.

On the 45th min Newcastle got what they deserved another goal,Gouffran made it 2-0

Half-time Newcastle 2 Cardiff City 0

Newcastle once again attacked and had City on the defensive and continually looked for a 3rd goal.

City did play better this half and attacked more.

70th min Chamakh came on for Lambert.

Kadeem Harris and Peter Whittingham replaced Kieran Richardson and Craig Noone.

77th min Whittingham came on and scored 2-1 :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

You have to ask why Whitts wasn’t starting this game in the first place...

Even though the second-half was virtually all one way traffic by Newcastle at least Lambert and Noone created a couple of chances and Whitts finally coming on helped City go forward :ayatollah:

Aron Gunnarsson got a yellow card near the end.

Newcastle were going for a 3rd goal and were pushing City back at the end.

Sean Morrison somehow cleared off the line after good play by Mitro!

Full time Newcastle 2 Cardiff City 1

My man of the match: Aron Gunnarsson stood firm/great long throws and never gave up :thumbright: :thumbright:
