' NEWCASTLE FANS BEST IN THE COUNTRY? DEF NOT '

Neil Warnock was asked today if Newcastle fans were the best in the country?

For me 100% its a big NO.

They have not had real bad times at all, so they get relegated every few years or sometimes every 10 years,so what, they play in the Premier League most of the time and play some of the biggest clubs in the World.

Try following a club week in week out in the lower divisions, going to Rochdale,Exeter,Carlisle,Torquay,Hartlepool week in week out or being one of their fans.

I remember Sunderland bringing 10,000 fans to Ninian Park (Cardiff) in 1980 and Sheff Wednesday bringing 10,000 to Ninian Park in 1984.
I've never seen Newcastle bring even quarter of that much.

What I do remember Newcastle bringing 200 fans on a Tuesday night to Cardiff in 1984 and 400 on a Saturday approx 1980. I also remember going there in the Old 2nd Division with Cardiff City and Newcastle's crowd was approx 14,000, so where were their 50,000 crowds in them days? ? ?

A reporter today asked Neil Warnock.

Newcastle,best fans in the country?

A 50,000-plus crowd? Warnock can’t wait!

Neil Warnock: "It’s a tremendous occasion, they’re possibly the best fans in the country. They’ve not had much to shout about, you have to give credit to Benitez. He was at Real Madrid two years ago, he not only went down with them but stuck with them. It shows it’s a special club. They’ve got good championship players who could step up and it will be hell of a battle."

To sell 33000 season tickets says it all... Fantastic club , fantastic stadium , fantastic city and fanatical support ..
They are a huge club and their home and away support is incredible . Our support esp away this year shows we are not in the same league when it comes to support .. I don't honestly think they would have walked over so easily if they had been subjected to the same type of rebranding that we had to suffer .We lost a lot if credibility the night of the Brighton game ..

They have a fantastic support for a club that wins fuckall and has been relegated twice in the 7 years. I wouldn't go as far as saying their the best fans in the country though.

In 1980 when I was there as well with City, the crowd was 14,000.

Plus they only brought 400 and 200 fans to us in the 80's.

Last season in the Prem
From the Newcastle site.
Newcastle United continued last season not to take the full allocation on offer, with puzzling decisions such as yet again taking only 2,000 when playing Arsenal at the Emirates.

Yes fantastic/amazing support this season by Newcastle :thumbright: :thumbright: , something we will never get as ours is getting worse every season away from home.

But what would it be like after 9 years in div 4? like we once were.

This has always been my argument.many don't realise cardiffs one and only golden era ended in 1929.is there any big area in the country that's hd as little success as us?
