The First Minister has said that challenging this morning's ruling by three High Court judges 'would be a mistake'
Friday 4th November 2016
Carwyn Jones has said that votes should take place in 'all four nations' ahead of any Brexit vote.
His comments come as the High Court ruled that Article 50 cannot be triggered without a Parliamentary vote.
The Government will appeal this morning's decision in the Supreme Court.
'We need to move on'
The First Minister has released a statement saying that it would be a mistake to challenge the High Court's ruling.
Live updates as Government loses high court battle to stop MPs voting on Brexit
“The High Court ruling is extremely clear - the UK Government cannot trigger Article 50 using the Crown prerogative. Indeed, this is consistent with many of the arguments made by the Leave campaign themselves about Parliamentary sovereignty. It is a mistake, in my view, to challenge such a clear ruling and we should now try and move ahead to develop a fuller understanding of the UK Government’s position.
Carwyn Jones was a Remain campaigner:

'We are working hard'
“The position of the Welsh Government has been consistent throughout – we accept the decision made by the people and will not work against the referendum result - we are working hard to get the best possible exit terms for Wales.
"However, it is important that votes take place in all four nations to endorse the UK negotiating position.”

While the Kippers are involved in fist fights at a European parliament they don't even want, employ their own relatives with big salaries (4 AMs) and walk out of their own Hastings....you have a pop at Carwyn for this!
The behaviour of UKIP in the Senedd has been appalling, with Bennett actually losing it completely in one committee meeting.
The sooner these jokers join their fellow bigot Trump the better. They're vs waste of public money, not our Assembly.

How anyone who is welsh can vote UKIP is beyond comprehension. Cue - left wing liberal abuse...

So regarding all this high court action and the gleeful smug woman splashed all over the papers, I have been doing some thinking.
This case seems to be saying on one hand May can not trigger withdrawal from the EU only parliament can?
Yet other seem to be saying it is just to say parliament must have a say on the direction brexit takes??
Well surely they can not have a say on the direction brexit takes until we indicate we are leaving??
My understanding is that Parliament already had their say on indicating we were leaving when they approved the referendum in the first place?? so My view is TM is correct she can just tell them we are leaving.
If the MPs were so incensed about this why did they not think of the angle this woman took whose sole aim is to STOP brexit not to make sure MPs have a say?
In my albeit simple mind TM has the authority to trigger article 50. Parliament debated and voted on the referendum bill and it was sold to us as a simple vote on staying in or leaving. We chose to leave so that is all the authority the need. I am fine with the idea they need to discuss a consensus for that actual final direction we go but the permission to start the ignition is there.
Which ever way you look at it we voted to leave. IF that is a good decision or a bad decision is irrelevant. It is our right to make a bad decision or a good one. It is our elected representatives obligation to carry out our will.
Personally I think the judges seem to be forgetting the initial debate and the words David Cameron used along the campaign.
If the argument is being used that the majority is too small to make this change then I Suggest we scrap the welsh assembly quick sharp given that squeezed in by an even smaller amount ... not that more people than the population of birmingham is a small number IMHO.
This all leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

FWIW - I am no fan of his but Jeremy Corbyn is making the right noises. He has said the result must be respected and focus should be on getting the best deal. Thats the right thing to do.

A shame! Before rushing to judgement some should read the history of our blessed land and the struggles of ordinary folk against the rampant tyranny of the Crown and Executive which afforded pitifully few rights to the common man. The fight for the supremacy of Parliament during the civil war was essentially a desperate reaction to the excesses of greed, cruelty and intolerance. Ours is enviously called the "Mother of Parliaments" throughout the free world and is looked upon as a beacon of hope in the struggle against despotism. Who, amongst us would be so crass as to jettison our proud history and fine legal tradition of reason and justice for the sake of populist fervour?
I suggest even a cursory glance at our history of political struggle will prove far more interesting reading than the tripe served up in shit like "The Sun, Mail and Express".
Thank goodness we still have independent arbiters who will uphold our constitutional rights.

The U.K. has no written constitution?

The referendum was a vote the reassert the supremacy of parliament, which those in the civil war fought for.

I thought the Daily Mail headline today was disgraceful. Those 3 judges were just doing their job.

Not really - where were these three when my rights were fundamentally altered by successive EU treaties and dictats.

No believe it or not it hasn't, but unlike "newer" countries and apart from statute, it's laws have become entrenched by custom and practice!

It was never their concern. The so called "EU treaties and dictats" became assimilated into English Law.

You're absolutely right. Parliament is paramount

Your rights were protected by the veto's successive prime ministers negotiated on behalf of UK citizens [actually subjects but that's for another day] before signing any treaties and dictats - why is it that people think the EU lays down the law about what we can and cannot do. We are under no obligation to sign up to anything we feel is against the best interests of the people of this country. A discussion with someone today brought up the fact that very few people can think of anything that the EU has ever stopped the UK doing as a sovereign state. Its amazing how the brexiteers wanted "to get our country back" and have the UK parliament dictate our laws, and when they do just that, they bleat about the fact that its the custodians of our legal system that have made that decision. Priceless!!

How about stopping us from not letting in immigrants with criminal records or any immigrants that the uk does not want.
PS who has altered my original post to read "just who is this guy" instead of "who is this idiot" and also changing my link into the full statement? You may think that it looks better but it is my post and it should be left alone. That is one of the problems with this board, mods changing posts.
