Sven Goran Eriksson is in talks with Shanghai SIPG about his future as the Chinese Super League club’s head coach.

The Chinese season ended last weekend with Shanghai SIPG in third place, 12 points behind champions Guangzhou Evergrande. That is believed to be not good enough for the club’s ambitious owners after they spent £45 million Brazil striker Hulk in the summer.
Eriksson has one year left on his £4 million a year contract and wants to stay in Shanghai, but Shanghai SIPG have been in talks with former Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas. According to reports in China, Villas-Boas has been in China this week.
Eriksson doubled his salary two years ago when he joined Shanghai SIPG from Guangzhou R&F. Eriksson managed England from 2001 until 2006. He led the national team to the quarter finals of three major tournaments.
