' Declan John's Future? '

By Phil Smith

Wednesday 2nd November 2016

John was one of a few who probably suffered from being on international duty when Warnock first arrived.

Joe Bennett's superb form and the arrival of Kieran Richardson has seen John fall considerably down the pecking order, having been first choice at the start of the season following Fabio's departure.

Still, there is hope for the speedy left-back. He is thought to have impressed in the friendly last week and had another promising game at the Cardiff City Stadium against the Eagles. As such, there's every chance he can avoid the kind of exile that preceded last season's loan to Chestefield.

Will have to go some to dislodge Bennett anytime from the full-back berth but Warnock's defensive coaching could make a big difference in the long run.

John goes on the attack earlier this season

he is still very young but i do wonder if he would be better off in midfield where the fullback is there to coverfor him

He's not been good enough, simple as that. You can dress it up however you want. Bennett has been out injuired for a lengthy period and hit the ground running and will only get better. While I agree he could have a future in midfield, I don't think its at chsmpionship level. Good luck to the lad.

no offence Annis, I know your a big supporter of him, but what is it now, Slade, Trollope and Warnock, have seen him, and don't rate him enough to play him. hes naturally a winger and imo, useless at left back, but as a winger, Is be anywhere near the level of Kadeem harris, who cant even get a starting spot ? I don't think he, time to move him on....the longer he stays and doesn't play will do more harm to his career

Give him a chance on the wing sometime soon, if we are gonna keep him playing fullback then get rid because he is league one standard of a fullback, just because he is Welsh doesn't mean he can escape criticism and this idea that he is a good footballer because he's Welsh, if you ain't good enough then get rid.
