It was the first time Graham Westley has tasted success with the Exiles
Cardiff City starlet Jazzi Barnum-Bobb is on loan at Newport County along with Cardiff City striker Rhys Healey who both scored today.
Graham Westley earned his first three points as Newport County boss with a vital victory at League Two play-off hopefuls Accrington Stanley.
Second half strikes from Rhys Healey, on loan from Cardiff City, ex-Bluebirds defender Jazzi Barnum-Bobb and Swansea City starlet Josh Sheehan saw Newport claim only their second win of the season.
Westley’s men remain rock bottom of the table but they are now five points from safety with a game in hand.
The win was nothing less than the visitors deserved for a disciplined display at the Wham Stadium that left the home supporters voicing their frustrations long before the end.
After an even first 45 minutes when neither goalkeeper was properly tested, Newport raced out of the blocks in the second half and were ahead with two minutes of the restart.
After a corner was cleared Healey raced with the ball from within his own half, held off a defender and smashed his shot past Eliot Parish for his first goal for the club.
Barnum-Bobb doubled the lead on 62 minutes when he took advantage of a defensive mix-up and coolly slotted the second goal inside the far post.
And Sheehan sealed it deep into stoppage time after Janoi Donacien’s volley had given the hosts hope.

Barnum-bob is a permanent transfer. We released him.

Thought Jazzi Barnum-Bobb was released by the City and signed on a permanent for Newport County ?
