' KEVIN McNAUGHTON BENEFIT GAME l DATE CHANGE '

IS NOW A SUNDAY :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Having taken into account supporter feedback following Kevin’s recent visit to Cardiff City Stadium, it has been decided that the Kevin McNaughton Benefit Match will now take place on Sunday, 26th March 2017 and not Thursday, 23rd March as originally intended.

Following consultation between the Club, supporters and Kevin’s Benefit Game committee, a decision has been made to move the game so as to allow those travelling to Ireland to watch Wales in their World Cup qualifier on Friday, 24th March will have sufficient time to return home to pay tribute to Kevin having enjoyed their stay in Dublin to the full.

It has been confirmed by Kevin’s committee that the game will kick-off at 3pm and will be played between two McNaughton XIs – featuring Bluebirds past and present, some of whom will be returning to Cardiff City Stadium for the very first time since leaving us.

Tickets are on sale from the Cardiff City Ticket Office now, with an early-bird option available. They are, as follows:

Early-Bird (for tickets purchased prior to match-day)

Adults: £10
Concessions (seniors, 16-21yrs and students 25 and under): £8
Juniors (U16): £3

Match-Day

Adults: £12
Concessions (seniors, 16-21yrs and students 25 and under): £10
Juniors (U16):£5

Speaking ahead of kick-off on his return to South-Wales for City’s triumphant Severnside derby with Bristol City, Kevin said: “I’ve been in contact with some former teammates so we’ll hopefully get some old faces down here for the match.

"It will be a real highlight for me and it’s something to really look forward to. We’ve chatted about it for a while now, so it’s been good to get a date down and get the ball rolling on that front.

“I spoke to Thommo [Steven Thompson] and he said he’s definitely going to come down for it. There are a few boys who are not playing at the moment, the likes of Darren Purse, who definitely want to get involved as well.

“It is early stages, but everyone that I’ve spoken to has been really positive about it, so we should get a few down for a good little game together.”

Supporters wishing to ask Kevin's committee any questions relating to the game can do so by emailing SuperKev@violafc.com

For Pete's sake. I could've gone on the Thursday now I'm missing the Sunday game.
Why the hell are they arranging it around the most popular Wales away trip.
Surely moving it a day earlier to Wednesday would make more sense as most people I know are making a weekend out of the trip.

I can actually make the Sunday but Thursday was a defo no for me and the 10 in my group. When I emailed the club I suggested the Wednesday as I know a lot of fans will still not be back for the game on Sunday.

I might as well email the address given but I'll hardly be heartbroken if they don't change it for 1 fan.
You would've thought that arranging it for the Sunday/Monday before the Tuesday Moldova away game would make more sense in the first place.
Oh well it won't ruin my weekend in Dublin and I'll be sure to raise a glass to a Cardiff legend

Just phoned the ticket office and tickets aren't on sale until early next year. That's an error on the website and they're getting it altered.

In the same boat as you mate  . Can't make Sunday as I'm doing a weekend in Dublin cause it saves a fortune on flights, might as well give the email a whirl but it's unlikely :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

A great shame that so many will have to miss this game through 'other' commitments on what is probably the biggest Wales rugby event of the season, so a little lack of thought from the club there. However, at last we know that the well overdue Testimonial for a great City servant will now go ahead and that is something to be celebrated

I'm one of those that cannot attend (not for rugby reasons though) and it's just a thought but why don't those of us who cannot attend buy a ticket anyway?

Just a thought for others, but I'll be doing it as a show of solidarity and respect for our 'Super Kev' the man and not Cardiff City FC the club on this occasion! :ayatollah: :notworthy:

People buying tickets and not being able to go, won't it just mean empty seats?

There you go, then. My error

Just goes to show how little interest I have in rugby and/or Wales football ;)

Sadly, it will but those who are not able to attend wouldn't be there anyway (if that makes sense)

My point was that the day is about supporting Kevin McNaughton the man and not the football club who have to a large extent given this event second billing by putting to on this particular weekend. The people who are (I stand corrected) off on the Wales football bandwagon for that weekend have an opportunity to thank and support Kevin just by the purchase of a ticket. Personally, I think he deserves it and is why I will be putting my hand in my pocket regardless of my non-attendance :ayatollah:

No worries mate it was a genuine question. I wasn't sure if there was some rugby international on
