" LEX IMMERS ? "

What has happened to Lex Immers?

Immers shone on loan to Russell Slade.

Failed under Paul Trollope.

Can Immers succeed under New manager Neil Warnock?

I don’t want to open the Russell Slade can of worms... but he certainly got the best out of Lex Immers.
I mention that because you’d think that Warnock can do the same.

The football will be relatively similar (in terms of how Cardiff attack) and Immers could be the all important link between the midfield and Lambert.
Two smart, experienced, technically gifted players, they *should* be a brilliant partnership.
He’s one of a number of players suffering currently because Warnock chose to work very intensively with a small group of players when he arrived in terms of shape and organisation.
You could see Immers playing the position Joe Ralls is currently very easily.

It Would be a massive shame if we don’t seem him back at his best. I remain hopeful that we will though. One of the best finishers in the squad.

The player has lost a lot of confidence, his reluctance to take on a shot is quite noticeable

Hasn't looked fit at times, certainly not the player of last season-shame really.Still plenty of time and a player I thought would flourish under Warnock!

No real place in the current formation - needs to play just behind the main striker. But useful nevertheless, and will almost certainly get his chances in a long and hard Championship season. If we have to start Pilkington up front on Saturday, then Immers in behind is probably what we need, having worked so well for much of the second half of last season.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you.maybe Warnock can improve him but I'm not confident.

This is an odd one. I remember when Immers first joined he was a revelation and I won't forget his impact on plenty of games - this board was rightfully excited about his performances and contribution at the time. To me, he hasn't been the same since he suffered from an injury which was described as a 'dead leg'. I saw him pull up a couple of times when he eventually returned but it just seems to me that since this 'dead leg', he has been a shadow of himself. From what I have seen of him, I really rate him and hope he returns to how he was.

A dead leg is common injury in football , the way he s played in the last few games I thought he had a wooden leg ??

If Warnock can get Immers and Pilkington linking together up front the same way as Slade managed last season, we will really be in business!

There was a glimpse of last season's Immers in the last 20 minutes at Rotherham. He was playing off Lambert and the two of them showed great touches around the box - the ball stuck to them and they had really good close control and seemed to understand each other. Immers wasn't pulling up trees but helped us control the end of the game really well. But that was the only time this season I've seen him play well.

I hope Warnock can get him firing again - as an advanced midfielder or No10. He has the ability, but whether down to confidence or injury, the performances have gone missing.

This is the answer IMO. Whitts seems to have the No.10 role in the 4-2-3-1 system used by NW meaning there is no place for Lex. On form Ralls would appear to be the one midfielder who might make way but I'm not sure Lex would fit his role, O'Keefe would be a better choice.

So basically it is the old Peter W paradox in that he must be given a first team role because of his set piece delivery (if nothing else) meaning he plays in a role which he is not suited for. In all honesty PW has only really been a positional success in the attacking left-midfield role but age would against him going back to that.

I would guess Lex will make a number of appearances as a sub for Whitts over the season.
