Under Trollope and Slade we could only dream of crowds of 16k

Forest are going through turmoil on and off the pitch

Correct, they want their owner gone as well and on and off the pitch they are in turmoil.
They will still average about 22,000 at home this season and prob bring as usual will bring about a 1,000 fans to us.
They have not been successful on the pitch for many years,in fact prob over 30 years.

Many years??? They have had 16 seasons in the premier league which only began 1992 .Cardiff city's last successful season in the top flight????. Give you a clue it was in the 1950s.

You need to get your facts right Rat.

This year is the 24th Premiership season and Forest have only competed in 5 of them not 16.

Of those 5 they got relegated 3 times, finishing bottom of the pile on all 3 occasions. Bounced back twice but last relegated 17 years ago in 1999 and haven't been back since, also spending 3 seasons in the third tier.

Since 1999 they have finished in the top 10 of the Championship / 2nd tier just 4 times.

They might have won the European Cup a couple of times 36/37 years ago but they haven't had any real success since late 88-90 when they won a couple of league cups, and finished 3rd in the very 1st Premier League 23 seasons ago.

Since 1999 all theyve had to shout about is promotion from the third tier at the third time of asking.

Historically they may be a big club but on field performance the last 20 years would suggest otherwise.

Spot on Chris, you saved me having to put it all out :thumbright: :thumbright:

Sad that we are looking to down other clubs support, when we can't say to much about our own.

Lets put all this aside, Warnock has just got us two wins and one draw from his first three matches, excellent start :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

The point of the thread is city have to be grateful if one fan or one million fans supportthem there history is dreadful in comparison to virtually every other big area club in Britain.I was there yesterday and loved.everyone has a choice if they go or not and shouldn't be criticized.

Annis when I researched it I was shocked to see they haven't even played in a semi final of a cup (not including auto windscreens trophy) since 1990 as they were always regarded as a good cup side under Cloughy.

Since they were last relegated from the PL in 1999 we have won the championship, finished in the play offs 3 times, been to Wembley 5 times, playing in major cup finals twice, and finished above them more times than they've finished above us.

We've had far more to shout about since 1999 than they have. Like Leeds they can't keep harking back to being a good team in the 70s / 80s that's a lifetime ago now.

What does history count for though? Just cos Forest had 3 excellent seasons nearly 40 years ago what does that count for in this day and age?

Chris, Other fans don't realise yes Forest are still a big name, but like you say have not had proper success on the pitch for many many years and their fan base has stayed with them home and away.

I never criticise individual fans for not going, everyone has their own reasons, I went for 43 years,I don't hardly go now as I move abroad, but I never ever stopped no matter how bad they did. I do believe in praising those that still go though :thumbright: :bluebird:

I go on about crowds as I love crowd attendances and have done since a little kid,I follow about 300 clubs attendances home and away, including plenty of non leagues.

What I am shocked/stunned and hurt by is our support disappeared home and away so fast and our away support now down there with the smallest clubs in all the divisions, that really hurts, as away games were what I once lived for, following City away was everything :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluebird:

I lived there 20 years ago and every family supported them - apart from a small no of County fans

At that time they were still big but success was staying at the top level.
This support got passed from generation to generation.

It's tough for them now, but they have a more solid long term support base than us.

Both our clubs have similar problems these days and we are doing well to be getting reasonable crowds given what we've been through.
We are at pretty much our lowest point for 10-15 years and the relegation season apart, so are they.
Both clubs are capable of pulling in a lot more with a bit of success.
