' NEIL WARNOCK CANNOT BELIEVE WE NEVER WON BY FOUR OR FIVE GOALS '

Neil Warnock: "'I don't know how we didn't win by four or five' "- Neil Warnock's response to Cardiff City's win at Nottingham Forest

Cardiff City have picked up an impressive seven points out of nine under new boss Neil Warnock

Neil Warnock admits his Cardiff City side should have won far more comfortably after they beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at the City Ground.

First half goals from Aron Gunnarsson and Joe Ralls proved enough for the visitors as they secured their second win under the new manager.

Henri Lansbury pulled a goal back from the penalty spot late on for the hosts, who had Thomas Lam being sent off midway through the second half, but the Bluebirds held on to secure all three points.

Victory means the Bluebirds remain unbeaten since Warnock replaced Paul Trollope as manager after picking up two wins and a draw in his three games in charge.

And the boss could not hide his delight with the result but admitted the Bluebirds should have been out of sight.

"I always felt we could score goals and we haven't scored one in the opening 60 minutes of a game this season until today," said Warnock.

"I don't know how we didn't win that by four or five to be honest. We had so many good opportunities today but you can't get too greedy.

"We do our homework on every team we play and it was nice to see a set-piece go in. We've worked on that this week and it's really nice when when it comes off.

"I thought it was a soft penalty but we hung on and I think we're getting better. The centre-halves were absolutely awesome.

"At least we've got a week without a game now. It's a great result for us and no more than we deserved."

Joe Ralls celebrates his goal
Striker Rickie Lambert was forced off through injury in the 37th minute and Warnock revealed that the forward was taken to hospital. for treatment.

He added: "It's terrible [the injury]. They took him to hospital and it was a real mess. Hopefully he hasn't done any damage. I thought he did well when he was on."

Gunnarsson produced a man of the match display and opened the scoring for the visitors with a bullet header before Ralls doubled Cardiff's lead before half time.

Lam saw red for the hosts for pulling Anthony Pilkington before Lansbury tucked home a penalty in the 90th minute to set up a tense finish.

But Warnock's men held on - and midfielder Gunnarsson admitted their new manager has given the players a huge confidence boost since arriving at the club.

"We should've put the game away but it is what it is and we'll take the three points," said Gunnarsson.

"He's [Warnock] trying to get the confidence back with the lads and he's gone back to basics. We were low on confidence and he wanted to pick the lads up again and you can see that today."

Dont like the sound of Lamberts injury! A couple of weeks ago people would be panicking over that which shows what an amazing job Warnock has done! I dont think I have seen so much as a comment!

Hope he pulls through soon. :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Agree with Warnock here. Pilkington and Ralls were particularly wasteful and the chance near the end for Pilks was so easy Noone could have scored it!

A great result but given City's propensity for giving away late goals, we need to be as far in front as possible going into the last 10 minutes of games! ;)
