CHANGES FOR FOREST AWAY

Says Nathan Blake

Thursday 20th October 2016

Minor tinkering, rather than major changes, I'd say. Richardson for Ralls. Possibly Harris for Noone.

But I will tell you this - whoever does get the chance to come in had better hit the ground running, or else Warnock will have them out again. That's the type of competition for places we want.

Forest won't be easy, but I look at their squad, look at ours and know which one I'd prefer. and it's not theirs.

Cardiff can win this one. whether we will is open to question. But I will be a lot more confident about games in general a couple of months down the line, when Warnock has the players to the fitness level he really wants.

CRAIG NOONE MUST BE LESS PREDICTABLE

Says Nathan Blake

Thursday 20th October 2016

"I would bring in Kadeem Harris for Craig Noone"

I used to play on the wing for Cardiff and it's a battle of wills out there. Full-backs like to read what you are doing and if they can, that makes their task so much easier - unless, of course, you have blinding pace, which is so difficult to counter.

In the modern-day game, teams study DVDs non-stop and opposition full-backs know exactly what Noone will do. Run down the right, chop back inside on his left-foot and try to dink the ball towards Rickie Lambert at the near post.

It's a bit of a hope ball, too, hoping Lambert can get on the end of it, rather than picking him out from the byline and putting it on his head at the far post.

Warnock likes Noone, but needs less predictability from the wide man
Noone is a lot better than that, yet for some reason we just never see him get to the byline any more and whip over a cross with his right foot. I don't know why, because in his early Cardiff City days I saw him do that loads.

And it is a defender's nightmare, too.

I hope Noone, at the very least, starts mixing it up a bit, makes the left-back's job far harder. At the very least chop back inside, then do a stepover to throw the defender off balance, before cutting back outside again and then crossing.

Lambert isn't getting the right service at the moment. Noone is more than capable of delivering that, but far greater unpredictability is the key here.

Perhaps playing Noone who is a left winger, on the left then he can get to the byeline and cross with his left :laughing6:

I have seen enough of Noone on the right wing its so easy for defenders

Blakey made some good comments on Radio Wales last night when I was travelling home after the game. He said we looked 'unfit' and I would agree 100%

A couple of weeks ago I remember Annis phoning Rob Phillips and saying Ricky Lambert was unfit. I thought the comments were harsh at the time but last night he was clearly struggling and looked shattered.

He wasn't the only one and Wednesday took advantage when it counted in the second half.

Noone on the right wing passed it's best by date 2 seasons ago. Why it is taking so long for managers to realise it is beyond me.

I'm with it was obvious years ago, also I am sure Holiett would do a lot better on the right wing

The case with Noone is mind boggling how he continuously gets picked, the guy is nowhere near the standard of the championship winger, I'd much rather Craig Conway or Burkey return.

Noone would be fine if he was allowed to play on the left. He's been sussed out on that right wing, and offers us little. That said, wasn't it his run that got us the free kick for our goal last night? Or was that Gunnar?

Interestingly Noone won our penalty against Bristol when he popped up on the LEFT wing. It was in almost the exact position he won a penalty against Wolves in his first match for us. Since that debut he has played almost exclusively on the right. I don't understand why our wingers don't at least switch sides more during matches which would give the opposing fullbacks different challenges. As it stands the opposition have Noone completely sussed when he sticks to the right hand side.

I like the idea of changes, particularly away.

Amos
Peltier
Bamba
Morrison
Bennett
O'Keefe
Ralls
Gunnar
Richardson
Lambert
Hoilett

Possibly Pilkington or Chamakh second half as Lambert will tire. Still haven't made my mind up on Chamakh though, but I guess he needs game time.

this being unfit thing seems to be a thing at city the last two seasons which makes me think the players under trollopes coaching and managing this yr wasnt doing enough fitness wise. how many times last yr did we fade in the second half and again this yr we will get alot fitter under warnock and hopefully that will see us pressing higher up the pitch and creating more. great start for warnock tho
