' WE DIDNT KNOW WHERE THE NEXT GOAL WAS COMING FROM '
After taking the lead tonight and the first half performance, understandably City fans may feel a little disappointed not to have taken all three points, especially the chance Morrison had to make it 2-0 right before half time.
But wind the clock back just a couple of weeks, prior to Neil Warnock coming in would anyone have thought or believed we would beat Bristol City or get anything from Sheffield Wednesday ?
We were wondering where the next goal was coming from, let alone the next point !
So to take 4 points from 6 against two teams who have started well to their campaigns is a huge positive and huge step in the right direction

Agreed.
But goalscoring is still a major problem and will be until at least January. We only seem to be a threat from set pieces - other than that we struggle to create anything and seem incapable of putting teams under long periods of sustained pressure.
Either Lambert's legs have completely gone or he's still injured but there's little point in him winning headers and there being no midfield players anywhere near him.
Still think goalscoring is going to be a major problem with what we currently have.

Totally agree

Yes spot on .we are well organised but offer little going forward.

We'd have lost that a few weeks ago

Lambert and Chamak both terrible donkeys

Agree that we would likely have lost that game and the Bristol game in the PT days.
Stating the onvious somewhat, but we are crying out for a striker woth pace to stretch defences.
Lambert's legs look like they have gone. Most balls are hoofed up to him and he has to try and battle with defenders for it. That's assuming the balls up to him are accurate and for the most part they werenn't last night. Lost count the number of times Pelts gave it away trying to play the long diagonal.
I was hoping Warnock will bring Chamakh on. Never seen him live before and thought he may be an improvement. His first touch was shocking and again didn't look as though he can stretch defences by running in behind.
I'd have brought Harris on for Noone and Pilkington on for Lambert. Noone's end product just isn't there and defences know he just wants to cut inside. Pilkington would have least run in behind if played up top.
A good point all in all though

Have posted recently about lambert, while I appreciate he's never been blessed with gas and he has been isolated somewhat it does look like his days are coming to an end, as a lead striker anyway.
Having said all that, NW will address this. He came in with no transfer window and a side who couldn't even score a goal, already he's worked miracles as previously we were that bad. It's a work in progress that is just two matches in, massive improvement and we go again Saturday.

Couldn't agree more, nooney will play as warnock will like his energy but gives ball away can't beat a man and rarely gets a ball in. Chamakh had done terrible touches but also some good ones. Time will tell but as posted above, if two out of the four brought in are decent then it's a result.

Agree with this but obviously Warnock needs a bit of time to sort out his best team.
Lambert looked old, tired, slow and overweight to me. He's certainly not the Messiah that most on here thought he was.
Chamach was terrible when he came on but he hasn't played for quite a while so will need a few games before we can judge.
Happy with a point though and although Wednesday were a superior team there are many more positives to take from a few weeks ago.

Somebody said earlier on in this thread that the midfield are getting nowhere near him and thats the problem not Lambert him self.City's midfield at the moment react to what they see and not anticipate. Its fair to say Lambert will win more than his fair share of headers and also holds the ball up well but just like against Bristol when Hoylett made a break and crossed the ball there was no-one on the end of it because the midfield were back on their heels and only reacted as the ball came across which meant they were too late. All the better players have good anticipation and strikers especially do this. When people say you make your own luck this is what there on about. At the moment too many players in the city side are guilty of this but I'm sure NW will sort this out.

Thats what I was thinking sneggy. We have not had mid fielders that drive forward for a long time. Lambert is getting some lovely touches and knock downs but no one is on the end of them. In fairness to chamakh he got more in to things after a few mins and had some good touches linking with hoilet but then Ralls spooned the ball off after all the hard work. If we are playing with 1 up top we need the support coming from behind and flooding forward. Thats what the top sides do. Sure we dont have the quality of the prem sides but it is relative.

Problem is Lambert is isolated alot . Last night he was bringing balls down superbly. But then Sheffield cottoned on and had 2 on him 1 in front 1 behind. So we only had him able to flick on but no one was close enough to get on it.

Lambert is doing OK.
The rest just need to get closer.
Noone wins a fair few free kicks and the odd penalty, but his overall contribution isn't great and he fades in the 2 no half- as does Whitts.
I'd start Pilkington over Noone

I agree, Lambert was totally isolated most of the time time on Wednesday. That's not his fault but he is so slow and lumbering he couldn't get to the ball.
For me, I'd bring in Harris instead of Noone.
