Wednesday were in competitive action as recently as Sunday lunchtime
Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has criticised the Championship fixture schedule ahead of his side's clash with Cardiff City on Wednesday night.
Both sides were live on Sky Sports last weekend as they recorded eye-catching wins over Huddersfield and Bristol City respectively.
For Wednesday, it was their fifth win in seven games and moves them to the verge of the play-off spots.
However, having played on Sunday lunchtime, the Owls have had two less days to recover than the Bluebirds, who were in action on Friday night.
Cardiff will have been welcome of the rest after an energy-sapping win over their Severnside rivals. Bristol had 60% possession in a game which required tremendous discipline and concentration from the hosts. Wednesday's win was no less demanding, toppling David Wagner's side at home for the first time this season.
Carvalhal told the Sheffield Star: "It is very good the number of games that are played in England but the teams should play in the same conditions.
"It should be the same conditions for everybody to regenerate the team. I don’t think it is good for the competition when the conditions aren’t the same for everybody.
Carvalhal is not impressed with the scheduling
"Even if I was manager of a team who had more days to recover, I would still not be happy and criticise it.”
"I think it is not fair but this is the reality.
"We are focused on the game. Let’s not complain. We are not in the same conditions as Cardiff but we will fight for the three points. We will do our best to win the game."
Wednesday could be without Scotland striker and top scorer Steven Fletcher after he missed the game with Huddersfield for 'personal reasons'.
Fletcher trained with the Owls today with a decision still to be made.

But he doesn't blame us does he?He criticises the fixture schedule which everyone knows is the responsibilty of the League and their Sky paymasters.I cannot see any suggestion that he thinks Cardiff are to blame. Not for the first time on this board the thread title is sensationalised, misleading and does not accurately reflect the content of the thread.
