LEEDS FANS REACT AMUSINGLY ON TWITTER TO ALLEGATIONS THAT PLAYERS PAID TO PLAY UNDER WARNOCK

Conservative MP Damian Collins mentioned a Tweet from footballer Jason Puncheon in 2014 claiming that players paid to play under Neil Warnock – and Leeds fans have reacted with humour on Twitter to the story.
Collins, the chair of the parliamentary culture, media and sport committee, was questioning Football Association chairman Greg Clarke at Monday’s hearing on football governance.
He used the claim from Puncheon, who made the Tweet while at Crystal Palace following criticism from his former boss on Match of the Day as a further example of the latest corruption in the sport stories.
“In January 2014 it was reported that Jason Puncheon, the Crystal Palace player, made allegations on Twitter regarding Neil Warnock – his former manager,” said Collins, as quoted by the BBC Sport website.
“The tweets have been deleted but they are available online and I’ll read out the relevant bit.
“He said, ‘What I won’t accept is an opinion from a man who’s crooked and ruining the game. The man who signs players, gives them extra wages and appearance bonuses to make sure they pay him to get into the team or on the bench. The fact that he can even talk about training is shocking. He was never there’.”
The allegations have brought a large number of Leeds fans reacting to the news that their former boss may have been involved in some dodgy deals with many posting humorously.
Warnock, 67, was manager of Leeds for just over a year between 2012 and 2013.
He is currently the manager of Cardiff and he won his first match in charge on Friday evening during a 2-1 victory over south west rivals Bristol City.
Leeds fans will welcome their former boss to Elland Road in February having already won against the Welsh capital side 2-0 under ex-boss Paul Trollope.
