Cleared striker interests Villa and Bluebirds

ASTON VILLA & CARDIFF CITY (SUNDAY EXPRESS)
Cleared Chesterfield striker Ched Evans could be a transfer target of SkyBet Championship clubs Aston Villa and Cardiff City according to The Sunday Express.
The 27 year old Welshman is ready to rebuild his personal reputation after being found not guilty of raping a 19 year old woman back in 2011 following a retrial on Friday.
SkyBet League One club Chesterfield made the decision to sign Evans in the summer on a one year deal with the player available as a free agent and after helping the striker gain his first taste of first team football in around four years, Evans could be subject of transfer interest from both the SkyBet Championship and Premier League in January.
It has been reported that Premier League club Hull City could make an attempt to sign the striker while SkyBet Championship pair Aston Villa and Cardiff City are also thought to be interested. Villa and The Bluebirds have found life difficult in English football’s second tier this season with both clubs hanging just above the relegation zone. Between the two clubs, they have managed just two wins in their last 19 league outings while neither club have averaged a goal a game in the division so far.
Goals could be top of the agenda at both the Cardiff City Stadium and Villa Park in the coming weeks and after netting four goals in just eight matches for Chesterfield, Evans could be handed an opportunity to move back up the football pyramid in January.

Probably not good press to bring him on right now.

Welsh or not he's not exactly proven at this level.TBH I wouldn't put much faith in this tale.

Martin, its not a tale from the Forum as you would say even though we said Kieren Richardson was signing, but the usual suspects said rubbish, this came from the Sunday Express, is there any truth, You never know?
Warnock likes to bring players on from no where and gets the best out of them.

Wez, I don't know if they've ever met,I'm not saying he's coming at all, I have not got a clue,Sunday Express story, not mine.

I just can't see it at city or villa, both see themselves as bigger than they are, both are heavily involved with their local communities and charities.
Unless Ched has a massive charm offensive and crusades informing young men about respecting yourselves and others especially young women I just don't see a "big" club signing him.
I know he is Welsh and we are softer nowadays, but we will murder him with chants if he plays against us !!!

Well for Ched its time to find out if his agents any good.

Now he's clear he'll want a decent deal at some point soon.Best thing he can do is bang in some goals then the offers will roll in.

Anyone else remember that fantastic goal he scored against us at Ninian Park when he was a youngster on loan at Norwich from Man City? One of the best I have ever seen live.
Sun Oct 16, 2016 8:06 pm
Pure speculation, probably because we have a new Manager (so have Villa) and we're Welsh, I would imagine Warnock will want better quality.......
Sun Oct 16, 2016 8:10 pm
I wouldn't want him here as a fan. It would just attract more bad press we don't need, especially after the last few years.

Yes I see what you mean about not being proven, only scored 23 goals in 95 games at this level

he`s scored 4 goals in 7 games for chesterfield this season ..not a bad return for someone out of the game for so long.
That said couldnt help noticing 2 of our old boys amongst the top scorers in league one Alex revell 6 for Northampton & Jay emmanuel-thomas 5 for gillingham !

I would be happy to see him play for us, I'm sure Ched just wants to move on with his career.

He was more than capable at our level, that was the point I was making. Also 35 goals in 42 games in last season before conviction

If it Hull, he will go there for the cash and PL football all be it for maybe half a season till relegated. If it's a choice between Villa or us, he,lol pick Villa, more cash and a massive club as opposed to a far smaller outfit like ourselves

Just one thing to consider, what is his record at Championship level ? Frankly it's not top level plus he's been virtually out of the game for 5 years (through no fault of his own according to the courts), so on a football level I don't want him.
On a different level he is now innocent and therefore should be free to sign for any club, if I'm honest I'd rather it not be us as firstly I don't think he's good enough but secondly we could do without the circus that would follow him.

Kevin Blackwell was manager at Sheffield Utd when they paid Man City £3m for Ched Evans. So there is a connection between our club and Ched Evans.
Maybe just paper talk but you never know.

It's a no from me. He eats too many late night pizzas.
Mon Oct 17, 2016 10:23 am
Regardless of the current furor around Ched he actually isn't really what we need in the team right now is he?
We need more of a Campbell-style striker.
So on purely footballing grounds it would be a 'no' from me.

I fully agree. If he comes here it will upset many supporters both male and female. I personally will send my season ticket back and I won't renew whilst he is at the club. He may have been found not guilty of a criminal act but his over all behaviour fell very short of that expected by a professional football player at a family friendly club.

Things are just starting to settle down a bit so why oh why would we want to sign Ched Evans? Inocent he may well be but mud sticks and I feel his actions were moraly dubious at best!
We dont need the agro! It begs the question whats more important goals or reputation? It raises too many issues and one thing we dont need is issues right now. It could well do more harm than good!

I take my 15 year old daughter and her friend.....I know a lot of fans hate to accept that is our fan base but it is.
The club at the expense of some of our hardcore fans have worked tirelessly to rebrand us. Family club of the year on numerous occasions, will they want all the baggage that goes with Ched, unless as I have said earlier he goes around local colleges, high schools, youth clubs & universities preaching about respect and the consequences on all around you if you fail.

This is getting boring now Tony. One you. It a man of you word you promised an apology if he was found innocent which he was. If daughter behaved in the this slapper does week in week out then I would personally go round and apologise to guy who life she fucked up.
You'd hand you season ticket back because they signed someone for whatever reason you don't like. Call yourself a city fan. Pull the other one. Man up apologise like you promised leave the poor guy to continue on what would have been a great career.
Sign him up warnock if for no other reason than to get a bigoted plastic fan out of a seat. Pathetic.

Lol. Even though permission was granted. It was like a buffet everyone could have a little of what they fancied.
