Ok, help me with this one. My initial opinion was his legs have gone, since then he's played against Burton supposedly carrying a knock and against Bristol in the new regime. It's difficult to tell as he is apparently not right, from what I seen I don't think he's the answer. Time will tell, but I have a feeling he will become more squad player than top striker. Opinions ?

He may be more suited to a 4 4 2
Did soon great work last night, really impressive in his work but
Still on his own and both wingers still cutting inside and not knocking balls in for him.
Would like to see him and Saadi n a pair

Wasn't a 4-4-2 though was it.More like a 4-1-4-1 with Gunnars sitting and Lambert on his own. When you play that system The midfield(Whits and Ralls)need to anticipate when Hoylett or Noone get the the ball so they can get forward to support Lambert in the middle more.Whits used to do this quite well a few years ago and as a result scored more goals. Its something that NW will hopefully address in the coming weeks as it was evident last night as on a couple of occasions Hoylett was looking to cross having found space but there was no-one in the box and no-one breaking forward to get there either. Only then will we properly see the benefit someone like Lambert can bring to the side.Though at his age he can't be depended on to put a shift every week and NW will have to find someone else to give him a whiff from time to time.

lambert w8n alot in the air also held the ball up well ,passed it to hoilet in particular a good few times he is much better than anything else we got

Lambert needs service and to date has had barely any. I'm sure warnock will address this.

I think he is the answer, but worry how many games he will be able to last the 90 mins. Warnock has started to address the lack of pace in the side which is what we need around Lambert and Whitts. I think the goals will come for him, his hold up and link up play was excellent last night

Hit, I was impressed with him last night and he was bringing others into play constantly. Vital to have around this season I feel but this will have to be his last season at this level.

People have to look at his overall contribution, the way he holds the ball up and buys us time to get out is as good as anyone I've seen down here for a few years.
He does need more goals but based on last night I think they will come with the right service.

Some class hold up play and passes but I think unless this injury is really holding him back then his legs have gone unfortunately. Either way hos fitness will still improve. Def can still do a decent job though just needs runners I'm support.

Some good posts, he will no doubt benefit from hoilet as opposed to giving it to nooney and never seeing the ball again. I feel he will be an asset at set pieces and hold up play, without doubt better than what we got, needs support as am not sure he will create otherwise.

This ^^^^^
He needs to be managed carefully as he's not going to be able to do 90 minutes 3 times in the space of 8 days so hopefully Pilkington and Chamakh will share some of the burden.

He's defo not the answer, that's the one thing we are missing at the min, I'm happy with the rest of the squad, maybe Chamack but we don't know yet until he plays, Saadi could be an option but Lambert is not going to do much running for us to slow, he will score the of goal tho from crosses, corners, free kicks.

Slower than my gran and looks to be holding back slightly as it's probable that he's not fully recovered from his injury.
Having said that he was the first to react to the bobbling ball in the area with his shot that hit the bar before Bamba scored and as his goals against Rotherham showed, if we can get the ball to him in or near the penalty area, he's going to be a threat.
Just as long as he doesn't have to sprint to get there!

He was another signing that some fans went completely over the top about. No way was he ever going to be a prolific goal scorer for us. I said at the time that he may be a 10 goal a season player, but he was obviously coming to the end of his career when we signed him. I'm sure his brain knows exactly what he wants to do on the pitch, unfortunately you reach an age where your body does'nt react. He will be good at holding up the ball and bringing others into play, and dangerous from set pieces. Can still do a job, but will pick up the odd knock which will take a while to recover from at his age. A short term fix to the goal scoring problems we had.

Agree his hold up play and first touch is superb. But you could see he's not going to go gliding past players. I also feel he would score more goals if wingers were on proper wings so he was running on to crosses rather than having to turn and have the cross in to him
