Last night he was immense and I thought he would be. All he needed is the right manager and a chance. In my view he is more Captain material than Morrison. He played and had passion like he did for Iceland.
Noone played well and I think Warnock was what he needed.
Was well happy last night passion is all was needed.

Spot on Nukes and yet some on here continually slate him, Gunners is not the Captain of Iceland for nothing

I haven't been biggest Gunnarsson fan but last night he was amazing and imo pipped Bamba to mom. Think the tactics of last couple of managers haven't suited him. Last night he played just in front of back 4 in midfield 3 and was awesome especially in the air and in his closing down. Should stay there and not be moved behind the front man or any nonsense like that. Sit him in front of back 4 like he does for Iceland and break up play. Would still like to find a place for o'keefe mind as I rate him highly as a player and a leader.

It seems to me in hindsight that some of the players were struggling to get a grip on the way Trollope set the team up and the system in general.More than I previously thought so maybe now we'll see some city stalwarts step up as we know they can.Up until Bamba capped his debut with a goal I had Gunners as my MOM.

He'll be back to his best with Warnock in charge. The blokes a warrior.

Agree he like all the rest of the team were great and they all raised their levels,as for needed a chance I am sure he's has had chances.

Spot on! Gunnarsson is a defensive midfielder and that is what he does best. This system suits him perfectly and he should now nail down that position.

I thought he was great.
By the way, how funny would it be if Iceland were sponsored by Iceland?
I'll get my coat.

finally played in the correct position. couldnt work out how Ole, Slade and Trollope played him as an attacking midfielder.
what i could see last last was Warnock told him to man mark tomlin. Stop Tomlin and we stop Bristol. worked a treat.
Gunner my man of the match aswell. nice to see his long throws being used as defensive aswell as attacking.
Morrison got a bigger throw mind, but we need him on the recieving end

Lets be honest, any decent manager could get a game out of Gunner, we just haven't had one since Malky! Not sure about captain material, not vocal enough, neither is Morrison, it may pass to Bamba in the coming weeks, if he carries on as he's started.
I'm really not convinced by Noone, never have been, if Warnock turns him into a consistently good player, then he is indeed the Messiah!
The passion and commitment, was great to see once more and once the players get their confidence back, we could even be looking at top six this season

Not sure its the position, but the pace. Since the promotion season we have never really played at pace and tried to be very technical which doesn't suit Gunnars skill set. Yesterday was blood and guts stuff with a few touches of class
A derby under the lights, live on Sky with Warnocks first game played to his strengths. There was very little time on the ball and it was almost instinctive....Perfect for Gunnar.

He was excellent, of Warnock thinks he's going to be a regular in the team then give him the armband. Passion from him leaving the pitch was also great to see

Very good post. Warnock will get the best out of him. I would love to see O'Keefe back in a midfield three alongside Gunnar and Ralls. We would have had more possession than we had last night and probably more opportunities to score. But this is a work in progress now and I think Warnock will lead us to bigger and better things.

Quality battler last night and deserves his place

Gunnar is a Warnock type player a hardworker and battler and not surprised that he can get the best out of him.

Hi Phil, how you doing?
O'Keefe would give us more energy in midfield but I wonder where Warnock is looking to fit Richardson and Chamakh into the team ?
I thought Bennett had a good game last night, looks like being the best left back we have had in a while.
I really enjoyed last night , bit more like the old days where the players gave it their all, fans got behind the team and there was a great atmosphere ! Possibly best since Malky was in charge ! Long may it continue

Good post, I think Warnock loves Gunnerson's type of player

Nowadays with a good manager it's all about the squad not the team.
That's how O'Keef and Chamach will play.

Hi Bill, good to hear from you.
It will be interesting to see how Chamakh and Richardson fit in. Both over 30 now so their best days are behind them but I've no doubt in the right set up and under the right leadership they can do a job in this division. Warnock knows Chamakh well and I guess he feels confident he can get the best out of him. Lambert will need to skip the odd game so Chamakh, although different, could play up front. Richardson is so versatile.
Agree with you about Bennett, he looked great last night and the atmosphere was brilliant.
I have reservations on our midfield set up and feel we are too lightweight but apart from that I think Warnock will steer us on the right course
