Former England boss Steve McClaren has been confirmed as Derby County's new manager, just 17 months after he was sacked by the Championship club.
McClaren, 55, replaces Nigel Pearson, who left by mutual consent on Saturday after less than five months, with temporary boss Chris Powell returning to his role as assistant manager.
McClaren said: "I regret how my time at Derby ended in 2015.
"I am very motivated to put things right for the club and supporters."

Shouldn't have let go of clement. They were up the top challenging and said the style wasn't good enough.. Idiots.

I'm just grateful that we got Warnock first. I think we got the best deal.

Mind boggling decision by that club. What has McClaren done in the time since to suggest he's any better than when they let go of him the first time?

We shouldn't be surprised by anything in football, but I'm still amazed by Steve McClaren's return to Derby. Yes his head got turned by Newcastle which cost the club dearly.

How this guy keeps getting work is beyond me, if I were derby fans I would be devastated right now.

Despite everything they have spent looking at the curent situation I suspect we will do better! We have a new experienced Manager, 4 new players and far less expectation. Its automatic or bust for them but mid table will do us which might help us acheive a bit more.
