Our 5 player swap deal with Newport C?? As a kid at the time, I always felt we got the thin end of the wedge, but, got the best individual player in the deal......
There was a time when all our over the hill players at the time simply went to Newport.... Dwyer, Perry, Gibbins, Marustik, Brian Clark (?) Sanderson, Darcy Blake, Sugrue, Gary Bell (?). Am sure there are loads more!
At some point I can see Whitts finishing his career there if they are still in the league.

I remember it well. John Lewis, Tarki Micallef & Linden Jones joining County, with City getting Karl Elsey & Nigel Vaughan in exchange.
Vaughan was the better of the exchange, imo.

JL, LJ, and the son of a greek restaurant owner.
bad deal in my book..
Was speaking to a fella from Aberbargoed recently, John Lewis still about, but is slightly more 'upholstered' than in his playing days.

All done simply to bring in Vaughan....... We had the smallest midfield in the country! Vaughan, Flynn.... And Ronson might even have been around then!! I rated LJ and JL.

I think the best deal we done was Derek Sullivan and Cecil Dixon going to Newport and we had Colin (Rock) Hudson in part exchange
Hudson proved a great player for the city and similar to Craig Nooneat his best
It was Hudson that provided the cross for Graham Moore to score the winning goal against
Aston Villa that got us promotion to the then First Division in 1959

Heres a quizzie for the even older folk - a member of the 59-60 team was the first Cardiff City player ever to be substituted- he's still around and living in Cardiff...
