Is the appointment of Neil Warnock the last roll of the dice for Vincent Tan ?
Why do I ask ?
We have been told that there must be further cuts by the club to comply and stay within FFP, I do not know how much Warnock's contract is worth but it would be safe to say that he would cost more than Paul Trollope.
Of course no owner would want his once Premier League club being relegated to League One, the financial aspect alone would be difficult to swallow never mind trying to take the club in the opposite direction.
As good an appointment Warnock is for this club because of the position it is in, I never thought that Warnock would be the type of manager Tan would appoint but it certainly is the right choice of this type of manager.
I believe, like most, that Warnock will keep City up this season although I don't see promotion or even play offs being a realistic option this season.
Hopefully the two of them can get on for the good of the club but if it goes spectacularly wrong, and with the characters involved you couldn't bet against it, then Warnock could possibly be the last roll of the dice.
We will see how it pans out and hopefully it will be for the better

What length contact has Warnock signed?

It's a secret - so don't ask.

Can't he sponsor the Stadium or club to get around FFP, like other clubs???

I said this a couple weeks ago. Makes perfect sense as a way to get around the rules, but guess it's a question of whether he would want to put more money in when he's already writing off most of our debt.

as we are threatened by relegation, it is a logical decision to employ someone like warnock. for once, i think those running the club deserve some credit.
that said, i agree with your post wholeheartedly, carl.
as for FFP, i think preserving championship status is more important. we have hardly spent anything in transfer fees recently while selling key players. FFP shouldn't be a problem for us.

Agree with everything said by Carl. Retaining our championship status has to be our main priority this season, and if I had a list of managers most likely to be able to help us achieve this, Warnock would be high up on that list. I think some fans have gone a little overboard as a result of his appointment. Our team is almost bottom because we don't have a very good squad right now. I think Warnock is the man to get the most out of what we have, and hopefully with a few signings we can get clear of the relegation battle.

Agree with everything you say. Although Warnock has set the bar himself also. "Possible promotion this year".
According to fans, he has surpassed Trollope even before he has managed a game. Walk the walk, and see where it takes us.

Let's see some positivity guys, I'm the first to criticise but the club have been stellar this week.
The right manager,experienced signings.
Warnock will improve us given time, unlike trollope .

It's October with more than seven months of the season to go and we can't get promoted ?

35 games to make up 12 points.
I put my money where my mouth is and backed us at 80/1 for promotion yesterday.
Im drowning in a sea of optimism

Warnock has worked under volatile managers at both QPR and Leeds with differing results. I don't think Tan is as hands on now so I think it could work well for the club. I agree that anything other than mid-table at best is optimistic but who knows? If Warnock can get us firing straight away then why shouldn't be aim for the play-offs? This division is full of inconsistent form and year-after-year one team always makes a late push. I'm not saying we should expect it but we should certainly not be satisfied with merely staying up. Let's go and try to win every game and see where we are come May.

I don't think Tan is quite so thick as to believe he can dictate to Neil Warnock. He's no yes man. Despite Tan wanting to take a hands on role with his football managers it ai'nt gonna happen this time. I doubt he ever wanted the likes of Warnock here but given the desperate situation we found ourselves in, his common sense overcame his vanity and he finally gave in to reason. Warnock may not get all the money he wants and needs but I think he will be given every other possible support to do the job his way and that can only be great news for the club.

I'm really surprised ppl don't think we can get promoted, there's 35 odd games to go,we only need to get three wins on the trot and we are on the fringes of the playoffs,do we honestly believe warnock isn't capable of getting a few wins in a row?

The reason I don't think we will get close to the play offs is that Warnock will not be on the pitch. It will mostly be the same group of players who are almost bottom of the table. Everyone thought Trollope was going to be like Guardiola compared to Slade, and we know what happened there. Warnock should be able to get more shape into our side, and I'm sure he will get us clear of the relegation battle, but he is not a magician and even if our players are performing to their best, they are not good enough to challenge the top sides. We know there is not much money available, and therefore we are going to be signing players who not in any great demand. I reckon this season is about staying in the championship, and who knows what next season will bring if Warnock hangs around and money becomes available.

Weren't Reading bottom at Christmas five years ago? I'm pretty sure they finished the season as champions, bonkers really.

Has anyone considered that Vincent Tan may well be taking a back seat on this one and allowed the one man in the top trio (Mehmet Dalman) to dictate the manager this time?
Seems to me that it was he who made contact; seemingly before Trollope was replaced
