Danny Gabbidon: "This Cardiff job is a difficult job"

Wednesday 5th October 2016

The former Bluebirds’ defender has had his say on the Warnock appointment....

Knowing Neil personally and working under him, I know what he is about. He could be a nice fit to come in and get the team up and running quickly.

This Cardiff job is a difficult job, it’s not suited to everyone. You have to have the right personality and the right credentials.

You need a manager who can go in there and get that team performing and he could be someone who could do that.

Cardiff need that single-mindedness right now, and Warnock will likely find a number of players in that dressing room that he feels he can work with. Ball-winners, grafters and no nonsense characters who know the grind of the football league almost as well as he does.

It feels like the right man at the right time :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

8th promotion?

If Neil Warnock does perform a miracle at Cardiff City this season, he will achieve a record eighth career promotion.
It would be quite an achievement... :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluebird:

I'm certain now we have Warnock,Vincent Tan will back him fully .
Well done Vincent Tan on the choice of manager, turning us back to blue and paying off the debt.
We have all made mistakes, time to forgive .
Onwards and upwards

Not sure promotion is going to happen this season but a full preseason and 2 transfer windows should give him a good chance next season as long as he has a bit of money to spend.

Great appointment, well done to everyone who made it happen

Will he get that long? Only Malky has lasted any length of time in the 10 years of the present regime. Don't think anyone else has lasted more than a year.

i doubt it too. for warnock to have a chance at promotion the club would have to change strategy and start giving the manager some money to spend. the policy since slade has been to cut the budget and not spend.

that said, we change our long term strategy so often that it is quite possible we will start spending money if warnock tells them a few home truths.

New Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has admitted that he has one eye on getting the club promoted back to the Premier League.

The 67-year-old was appointed as the Bluebirds' new boss earlier today following the dismissal of Paul Trollope on Tuesday with the side one place from bottom in the Championship.

Warnock has an impressive seven promotions on his CV, including promotions to the Premier League with Sheffield United in 2005-06 and Queens Park Rangers in 2009-10.

"I've got seven promotions and, I must admit, I wanted that eighth promotion," Warnock told the Cardiff website. "I do enjoy challenges, and the challenge is to get the team higher up the league and see where we go. I'm confident in my ability and in Kevin [Blackwell] and Ronnie [Jepson], who have come with me to get the best out of the players.

"I look at the squad and know they have the ability - I do believe they have the potential to compete with anybody in the league. I'm looking forward to bringing some confidence back into the whole club.

"Rest assured, I'll be doing my very best to provide the entertainment. I want the fans to go home talking about the shots, the saves and the offsides. The manager going stupid on the touchline. That's what I love about football."

Warnock's first game in charge will be a local derby with high-flying Bristol City at the Cardiff City Stadium on October 14.

I don't believe we are promotional material but the future certainly looks positive for a finish above 10th position - Not relegation!
